Brighton and Wolves keep their Premier League unbeaten runs going, though both sides will be frustrated after a goalless draw at Amex Stadium. De Zerbi’s men are undefeated in their last four league games, while O’Neil’s side see their three-game top-flight winning streak come to an end but make it six matches across all competitions without defeat. The Seagulls dominated the majority of the first half, with Buonanotte seeing a header cleared off the line by Doyle and Van Hecke denied by Sa. Cunha was, perhaps, fortunate to escape a dismissal on the stroke of half-time after being cautioned and proceeding to protest furiously to referee Pawson, who kept his red card in his pocket despite the words exchanged. The visitors sat deep in the second period but went close through Cunha, who rounded Steele and should have done better from a tight angle, and Neto on his first Premier League start since October 2023. Kilman redirected against Sa’s left-hand post at the other end, though neither team could find a winner. Brighton leapfrog Manchester United into seventh before visiting Sheffield United in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday. Wolves sit 11th in the league table and next face a Black Country derby with West Bromwich Albion in the same FA Cup round on Sunday. That is all for now, until next time. Goodbye!

FULL-TIME: BRIGHTON 0-0 WOLVES

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:39

Webster's cross is met by a wall of Wolves defenders as time ticks on. Gross then sees a shot blocked before Doyle wins a free-kick. That will surely be the end of the game at the Amex.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:38

Toti is cautioned for a foul near the halfway line and delaying the restart as Brighton look to up the tempo in the final minute or so.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:37

Just shoot! Joao Pedro has the chance to be the hero, dancing and spinning near the penalty spot after Lallana's cutback pass. The Brighton forward takes too long twisting and turning, though, as Wolves regroup to defend and block valiantly in front of Sa's goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:37

Substitution Jack Luca Hinshelwood Benicio Baker-Boaitey

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:36

Dawson defends well to clear as Ferguson lurks inside the Wolves area. There will be three additional minutes to end this game.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:33

Substitution Pedro Lomba Neto Tawanda Blessing Chirewa

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:32

Lamptey works his way inside from the right flank but his left-footed cross is aimless and straight to Sa. The clock is ticking for De Zerbi, whose side were also held to a goalless draw in their last Premier League outing against West Ham.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:31

Gross has created 55 chances this season, the joint-highest total in the Premier League (alongside Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes). Can the Brighton midfielder unpick the Wolves defence to create what would prove to be the winning goal in the dying stages?

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:30

Wolves have lost their last four Premier League games against Brighton, conceding at least three goals each time (16 in total). Only twice before have they lost 5+ consecutive league games against an opponent while shipping 3+ goals each time – eight against Manchester City (1902-1909) and five against Blackpool (1927-1929). It has been much better from the Molineux side here.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:28

GREAT SAVE! Chances continue to flow for O'Neil's side. Cunha sends Lemina racing clear before the Wolves midfielder sees a right-footed drive parried away by Steele, who reacts quickly and gets down well to push aside the danger. The visitors are looking the more likely for the opening goal at the minute.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:28

Substitute Webster is next into the referee's book after shoving and then kicking Neto's ankle near the right-hand touchline. That was cynical from the Brighton defender.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:28

The game is completely stretched as Joao Pedro stands up Semedo, dancing onto his left foot before blasting straight at Sa, who saves with ease.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:28

CUNHA HAS TO DO BETTER! Neto holds his run as Wolves speed away on a counter-attack, touching over the halfway line for Cunha. Steele comes so far off his line that the goalkeeper is almost 40 yards from his six-yard area, but the Brazilian's control around him is poor before he whips wide from a tight right-wing angle towards the unguarded goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:25

Webster, Dunk and Van Hecke occupy a high position in Wolves' half but the three-man defence are unable to find much room to play through. In fact, their positions are inviting a counter-attack...

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:23

WIDE! Neto causes more problems down the right flank, sneaking in behind onto Semedo's throughball before driving a right-footed strike across the face of goal. All the delivery needs is tap-in but Cunha is caught on his heels as the ball flashes past Steele's right-hand post.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:21

Brighton have won their last four league games against Wolves, as many as they had in their previous 19 combined (D10 L5). Another win here, however, will require some late heroics from the Seagulls.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:19

Yellow Card Maximilian William Kilman

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:18

Estupinan has attempted 11 crosses in this game, some five more than the entire Wolves team combined. The left-back makes way for Lallana, however, as De Zerbi chases an opening goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:18

Substitution James Philip Milner Adam Harry Webster

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:16

O'Neil opts for fresh legs, sending on Bellegarde for Sarabia in what appears a defensive change. The substitute may provide some more cover as Wolves look to defend against Estupinan down their right-hand side.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:16

Steele and Estupinan celebrate after the pair manage to defend when Lemina looks to burst through the middle. A stoppage for the Wolves midfielder's foul on the Brighton goalkeeper will allow O'Neil to make his first change.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:14

De Zerbi has won all three of his Premier League meetings with Wolves by an aggregate scoreline of 13-3. Meanwhile, O'Neil has lost all three of his Premier League encounters with Brighton, with his sides conceding seven goals and scoring one in reply. It remains goalless here, however.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:13

Gross gestures to the referee, protesting his innocence after a foul on Sarabia, who again makes his feelings known to Pawson. Unlike Cunha in the first half, the Wolves winger avoids a caution for what some would class as dissent.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:11

Substitution Facundo Valentín Buonanotte Tariq Kwame Nii-Lante Lamptey

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:10

Substitution Daniel Nii Tackie Mensah Welbeck Evan Joe Ferguson

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:08

Brighton had over 77 per cent possession over the opening 15 minutes of this second half. An opening goal still remains elusive, however, as De Zerbi considers his options among the substitutes.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:07

Neto has all the time in the world to weigh up a right-wing cross, which Dunk heads up in the air before Steele claims the looping ball. It appears De Zerbi is readying Ferguson on the bench, presumably for Welbeck or Joao Pedro.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:04

Since Matchday 16, Brighton have now missed 16 big chances in the Premier League, more than any other side after surpassing Arsenal (15) in this clash. Van Hecke and Buonanotte are the two Seagulls responsible for missed opportunities here against Wolves.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:03

The same pattern continues, Estupinan bursts down the left flank before his cross is blocked behind for a corner. Dunk and Co come up for the set-piece, which comes to an abrupt end for a foul inside the six-yard area on Sa.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:02

ANOTHER CHANCE! It's absolute chaos at the Amex as Wolves take their turn to attack. Neto stands up Dunk, bursting to the byline before almost sneaking a right-footed cross past Steele, who unconvincingly turns behind for a corner. This is a real spectacle on the south coast, despite remaining goalless.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:00

Yellow Card Craig Dawson

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

21:00

OFF THE POST! Hinshelwood links up with Joao Pedro down the right-hand side before the former slides a low cross back towards the Brighton forward. Kilman dives in, stretching and hitting a clearance off Sa's left post before going behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:58

This is only the third time this season that Brighton have failed to score in the first half of a Premier League home match, also failing to do so against West Ham in August and Burnley in December. The Seagulls are trying to get going after the interval but Wolves are sitting tight for the time being.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:58

WHAT A TACKLE! Joao Pedro is denied a certain goal by Semedo. The Brighton forward starts the move out wide before Milner releases him down the middle. However, just as Joao Pedro is about to fire towards Sa's goal from close range, Semedo slides across with a perfectly timed last-ditch block.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:56

Joao Pedro attempts to keep the ball alive after Sa punches clear but ends up taking a clearance from Semedo to the face. The Brighton forward needs a moment to catch his breath and the home crowd applauds when Sa offers the striker his water to clean his face after the Semedo incident.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:55

Estupinan sneaks down the left flank onto Gross' pass before Kilman heads behind from the left-back's cross. Gross delivers the set-piece towards the near post, where Sa punches away when close to his line.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:54

Only Chelsea (66), Sheffield United (64) and Aston Villa (59) have been shown more yellow cards than Wolves (53) in the Premier League this season. What an exit it could have been for the seething Cunha heading into half-time, and almost an even more spectacular entrance into the second half with that missed chance!

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:53

MASSIVE CHANCES! Wolves almost start the second half with a counter-attacking goal. Brighton lose possession through the middle as Neto drives inside from the right before finding Cunha, whose first right-footed strike from inside the area is pushed away by Steele. The rebound falls straight back to the Brazilian forward but he prods over with the Brighton goalkeeper struggling to get back up for the follow-up chance. What an opportunity for the visitors.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:50

There are no changes from either side at half-time and Pawson gets this Premier League clash back under way! Will Cunha and Sarabia have calmed down yet after their anger heading into the break following the former's caution for an incident with Gilmour off the ball?

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:37

De Zerbi will not be too concerned given Brighton have gone on to draw just one of their last six matches at the Amex when goalless at half-time, winning four and losing the other. This comes after they had drawn each of their previous nine at home when going in 0-0 at the break. O'Neil must calm his players down before the next period, with Cunha particularly furious and Sarabia not far behind, while coach Cutler was cautioned for his confrontation with the Seagulls manager.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:36

The Brighton crowd are demanding a second caution and dismissal for Cunha as the half-time whistle sounds with the Seagulls and Wolves goalless. Cunha is still incensed by Pawson's decision to show a yellow card for his off-the-ball collision with Gilmour. Nevertheless, these two sides cannot be separated heading into the interval, with Buonanotte seeing an effort cleared off the line by Doyle and Sa denying Van Hecke from point-blank range.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:34

HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON 0-0 WOLVES

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:34

Cunha drops to his knees in protest after referee Pawson cautions the Wolves forward for another off-the-ball incident with Gilmour, who goes down after being pushed from behind when Neto has the ball on the left. That is twice in the first half the pair have clashed, yet this time the Brazilian is punished.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:34

There will be just two additional minutes to end this half as Brighton and Wolves remain goalless heading towards the break. That is not for lack of quality or trying, however, as both sides continue to play free-flowing and attractive football.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:33

Referee Pawson has seen enough to go over and caution Wolves' goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler, who was embroiled in a disagreement with De Zerbi following Dawson's late challenge on Gilmour. A tasty few minutes at the Amex!

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:31

The Brighton crowd are once again incensed as Dawson leaves it a little bit late on Gilmour, the Wolves centre-back crashing into the midfielder after the referee had already blown for a free-kick. The tensions bubble over to the touchline, too, as O'Neil attempts to separate De Zerbi and a member of his coaching staff.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:30

SAVE! Gilmour and Dunk fizz possession around before Gross rolls into Joao Pedro, whose turn is slow but the striker still finds space for a right-footed strike. The effort is weak, though, and Sa dives down to his left to stop with ease.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:27

Joao Pedro races around Kilman after Welbeck holds up well but the former Watford striker overruns it, failing to get his feet right and giving away a goal-kick instead. Brazil's Joao Pedro has been involved in six goals (5G 1A) in his last eight Premier League appearances but has struggled to make an impact so far here.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:26

Brighton have already attempted 17 crosses in this game, higher than their season average of 15.5 in the Premier League despite playing just under 40 minutes here. There has been no reward for the bombardment of the Wolves area as of yet, though.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:24

Estupinan and Gross hover over the corner before going short. The left-back angles a looping cross towards the far post eventually, though it is far too strong for Dunk, who tries and fails to keep it in when conceding a goal-kick.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:23

Doherty is forced to guide the ball out for a corner as Hinshelwood presses at the back post from a left-sided cross. Van Hecke and Dunk will once again come up for this one...

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:22

The Brighton faithful are less than impressed after Buonanotte is deemed to have fouled Toti, who rushes forward to intercept near the halfway line before winning a free-kick. The Wolves defence are keeping De Zerbi's attack quiet, but for how much longer can they hold out?

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:20

Estupinan remains Brighton's primary attacking threat, being offered so much room down the left-hand side. The left-back has already attempted a game-high six crosses and created two chances, more than any other player on the pitch.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:18

In the build-up to Sarabia's chance, Cunha goes down in the middle after a coming together with Gilmour. The Wolves forward claims obstruction, and suggests the foul was intentional, but the VAR sees no issue with the off-the-ball collision, nor does the referee.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:18

WIDE! Another rapid counter-attack almost brings a chance for Wolves. Doyle releases Neto, who paces past Van Hecke before pulling back towards the edge of the area. Sarabia is completely unmarked but drags a left-footed effort wide to Steele's left.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:16

Only Bournemouth (22) and Everton (21) have had more shots from fast breaks than Wolves in the Premier League this season (20). It appears that method on the counter-attack may be O'Neil's best hope of seeing his side test Steele, such has been Brighton's dominance in possession thus far.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:15

Since the start of Matchday 16, no side has missed more big chances in the Premier League than Brighton (15, level with Arsenal). Buonanotte and Van Hecke have both spurned what would be defined as a significant opening in this game already.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:13

CHANCE! Gross swings a fine left-sided free-kick towards the near post, where Sa and Van Hecke contest in an aerial duel. The Brighton centre-back manages to win the first flick-on but Sa is close enough to deflect over, despite not knowing much about the save.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:13

Gilmour dances around a few tackles before Lemina trips the Brighton midfielder, offering the home side a free-kick in a promising wide position. Estupinan and Gross debate over who will take this one...

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:12

Wolves have won each of their last three Premier League games, last winning four successive top-flight matches back in January 1972 under Bill McGarry. The Molineux club are playing with real confidence here, too, though this south-coast clash remains goalless for the time being.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:10

CLOSE! This is end-to-end stuff at the Amex. Milner is unable to find crossing space as Wolves manage to clear before breaking towards Brighton's goal. Dunk shadows Neto through the middle before the Portugal winger curls a left-footed shot from outside the area narrowly wide to Steele's right. That was so close to the opening goal for the away side.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:08

A brief stoppage comes as Sarabia stays down following a challenge near the right-hand touchline. The Wolves winger will be fine to continue, though, as the visitors restart with a free-kick at the feet of Doherty.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:06

Brighton had just over 69 per cent of possession across the opening 15 minutes of this Premier League clash. De Zerbi's men remain eye-catching on the ball, but are yet to force Sa into a meaningful save.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:04

Close! Van Hecke angles a smart pass inside to Gross, who spins and disguises a throughball for Welbeck into the area. Semedon is alert, though, tucking in to shield away before the onrushing Sa pounces on the loose ball.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:04

O'Neil may be relieved for a quiet passage of play as Cunha's inventive backheel is comfortably claimed by Steele. The game has slowed down somewhat in the last few minutes.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:59

OFF THE LINE! Estupinan's right-sided corner causes all sort of problems as a flick-on goes all the way to the back post for Buonanotte. The unmarked Brighton youngster stoops to head low past Sa but Doyle is there on the line to hook clear!

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:58

OVER! Great football from Brighton as Hinshelwood make a lovely run inside before offloading to Welbeck, whose right-footed drive is deflected just over for a corner. The Brighton forward has six goal involvements in eight Premier League starts against Wolves (four goals, two assists), and was one of three players to net a brace in this exact fixture last term as the Seagulls ran out 6-0 winners (also two goals for Gross and Deniz Undav).

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:55

Toti rises the highest to clear Milner's left-flank chipped cross before Doherty goes down the other end and wins a corner from Dunk's clearance. Sarabia delivers from the right-hand side but swings a woeful set-piece straight out of play. Terrible from the Wolves winger.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:53

The pressure keeps coming as Gross' left-wing cross finds Welbeck, who is let down by his first touch before Sa collects near his six-yard area. De Zerbi's side are in control but can they make their dominance count?

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:52

Hinshelwood's right-sided delivery is flicked on inside the Wolves box but Milner is unable to control at the back post, seemingly surprised by Van Hecke's header towards him. Milner has surpassed Ryan Giggs with his 633rd appearance in the Premier League here, edging ever closer to Gareth Barry’s 653-game record in the competition.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:51

Estupinan overlaps Milner before firing a pass into the feet of Joao Pedro, whose right-footed effort is blocked on the edge of the Wolves area. The Brazilian forward is then felled by a late Dawson challenge, offering the hosts a free-kick in a central position.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:50

O'Neil's visitors have looked assured in the early exchanges, with Cunha dropping deep to dictate play before Semedo commits a needless foul on Joao Pedro near the left-hand touchline.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:48

EARLY CHANCE! Sarabia is immediately involved, breaking through the middle before driving a low left-footed strike that Steele saves diving down to his left. It's an energetic start from Wolves, who almost score straight from kick-off!

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:47

Referee Craig Pawson gets this Premier League game under way!

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:43

This is Wolves' first top-flight game of 2024 – the third latest a team has played their opening Premier League game of a calendar year (excluding promoted sides), after Portsmouth in 2010 (January 26) and Manchester United in 2000 (January 24). Will there be any signs of rustiness? We’re about to find out with kick-off approaching…

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:43

The headline news for O’Neil’s side is that Neto starts in the Premier League for Wolves for the first time since October 2023 against Newcastle United. He has provided seven assists in his last eight Premier League starts, including in each of his last three in the competition. Doherty and Lemina also come into the starting XI, with Hwang Hee-chan and Rayan Ait-Nouri out on international duty, while Joao Gomes is suspended.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:27

De Zerbi makes one change from the goalless draw with West Ham. Webster drops to the bench as Dunk returns from suspension. Lamptey, who has been out with a muscle injury since November, is named among the substitutes.
