Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

The Seagulls travel to Chelsea in the EFL Cup for their next fixture before going to Aston Villa in the league. As for Bournemouth, their wait for a first win in this division this campaign continues. Their attention also switches over to the EFL Cup, where they will be hosting Stoke City, before welcoming Arsenal on the weekend.

Mitoma scored 16 seconds after coming on to net Brighton's second goal and help the Seagulls secure a 3-1 win. Bournemouth started strongly and threatened to score through Christie, who crashed an effort just wide. The Scotland International then played an imperative role in the Cherries' opener. He won the ball off Verbruggen and found Solanke, who had a simple finish into an open net. The hosts struggled to get going but found an equaliser in a fortunate fashion just before the break. Gilmour's inviting cross into the box was met by Kerkez, who headed the ball past into his own net past Neto. Mitoma was then brought on at half-time and made an impact almost immediately. He got on the end of a clever flick from Dahoud and directed his strike into the bottom corner. Semenyo then forced Verbruggen into a save before Mitoma scored again. The Japan International got on the end of a cross from Estupinan and powered his header across the goal and into the bottom corner. The Cherries went close to getting one back, but Solanke had his attempt cleared off the line, with Brooks also having a shot from inside the box blocked.

Brighton are fortunate to be level at the break. Bournemouth have completely nullified their attack and are not letting the Seagulls play their quick passing game. Their solid defensive shape has stopped the midfielders from getting on the ball, with Ferguson having just 16 touches. It will not be long until March, Fati and Mitoma are introduced. As for the Cherries, they have countered effectively and only conceded due to a defensive mishap. Christie and Solanke combined for the goal but Kluivert has also been excellent. He has used his pace to move forward with the ball and has shown his quick feet to get past defenders.

The Seagulls struggled to get going in the game and were under pressure for most of the half. Christie blasted a shot wide after neat work from Kluivert and Solanke but made up for it soon after.
