Brewers make preparations for extreme heat and ask fans to take precautions Wednesday

The Milwaukee Brewers game against Minnesota on Wednesday will begin at 1:10 p.m., with temperatures rising into the upper 90s and Milwaukee under an excessive heat warning.

For those attending the game at American Family Field, it's going to be sweltering. Here's what to know.

Will the roof be closed for the Brewers game Wednesday?

No; trust us, closing the retractable roof would not make things cooler. The stadium isn't equipped with air conditioning in the seating bowl, and nothing turns up the temperature like closing the roof. Skies will be sunny, and with no rain in the forecast, expect the panels and roof to be open.

The stadium is using a partially-closed setup to shield more of the stadium from the sun.

Can fans bring water into American Family Field?

Fans have always been able to bring in sealed plastic bottles of water into the stadium for Brewers games, and that hasn't changed. The Brewers said there will be no limit to the number of bottles brought in Wednesday, and they can be any size. You still won't be allowed to bring in alcohol.

The Brewers are offering cooling rooms on the fourth deck

Fans are welcomed to seek refuge from the sun in cooling rooms on the terrace level (fourth deck). The first two levels feature shaded areas of the concourse with view of the game, and the club level (third deck) does have enclosed air-conditioned spaces.

Those sitting on the first-base side will have greater protection from the sun than the third-base side.

The Brewers said they are staffing the game with more emergency-service crews than usual. They also encourage fans to wear sunscreen and a hat and take breaks with water and shade.
