Brandon Pfaadt, Arizona Diamondbacks look to even series with Los Angeles Dodgers

LOS ANGELES — After dropping the opener on Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks will look to even their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night when they send right-hander Brandon Pfaadt to the mound at Dodger Stadium.

Pfaadt is coming off perhaps his best start of the year last week against the Cincinnati Reds, against whom he fired seven innings of two-hit, one-run ball, walking two and striking out nine.

Pfaadt (1-3, 4.17 ERA) ranks sixth in the National League with a 5.1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

He has a 9.35 ERA in two career starts against the Dodgers, though that does not count the 4⅓ scoreless innings he gave the Diamondbacks in Game 3 of the division series last October.

He will match up against Dodgers right-hander Gavin Stone (4-1, 3.27 ERA).

Stone is on a roll, having given up exactly one run in each of his past four starts, logging at least six innings in each of them.

Stone throws hard and has swing-and-miss pitches, but he has not been racking up strikeouts this year, with just 29 in 44 innings.

He has never faced the Diamondbacks.
