Braden Smith powers Purdue basketball to European tour victory

Purdue basketball started its European tour with an 88-71 victory over Kickz IBAM, a German basketball academy, in Munich.

Sophomore guard Braden Smith had 22 points, 12 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Trey Kaufman-Renn had 16 points and 8 rebounds starting in place of Zach Edey, who is playing for Team Canada in international action. Brian Waddell had 15 points and 4 rebounds.

The Boilermakers led 49-42 at halftime as Smith had 15 points and 7 assists, and Waddell 10 points.

Purdue is set to play BG Hessing in Stadtbergen, Germany, at 1:30 p.m. ET Thursday. The game can be seen here.
