Boys volleyball: Here are the 2024 All-North Jersey teams

After an exciting season, the following players have been selected to the 2024 All-North Jersey boys volleyball teams.

The Boys Volleyball Player of the Year will be announced at the 2024 North Jersey High School Sports Awards. All first-team players are nominees for Boys Volleyball Player of the Year.

FIRST TEAM

Max Baczynski

Ramapo senior outside hitter

Baczynski repeats on the first team after powering the Raiders to their first 20-win season (22-7) and third all-time appearance in the Bergen County final. He ended with 272 kills, 119 digs and 29 aces – all career highs – and chipped in 27 blocks for the North Group 2 semifinalists.

Anthony Matute

Passaic Charter senior outside hitter

In the two years that Matute was named to the first team, the Panthers won their first sectional title (2023) and the school’s first Passaic County championship in any sport (2024). He amassed 315 kills and 49 aces for a 23-4 squad this spring, ending with career totals of 625 kills and 200 aces.

Shah Nasher

Bergenfield senior opposite

Nasher moves up from the 2023 third team after helping the Bears (23-7) reach the North Group 2 final and set a single-season program record for victories. He tallied team highs in kills (271) and blocks (38), adding 76 digs, and had double-digit kills in each of his team’s four sectional matches.

Matthew Peralta

Hackensack senior middle

Peralta is a three-time pick, repeating on the first team after earning a spot on the 2022 third team. He was the top hitter on North Jersey’s best team, propelling the 29-2 Comets to the Bergen County title with 310 kills, 150 digs, 56 blocks and 31 aces. He had 813 kills in four varsity seasons.

Jeremy Rivera

Harrison junior setter

The Blue Tide (26-5) has a setter on first team for the second year in a row, as Rivera led the Hudson County champs in their title defense. He notched 576 assists, 166 digs and 48 aces to help Harrison reach the North Group 1 final and give 17th-year coach Nick Landy his 300th win.

Ylan Tapper

Garfield junior outside hitter

Besides leading North Jersey in kills (366), Tapper led the Boilermakers (27-4) to the best season in the program’s 25-year history. He reached double-digit kills in all but six matches and had a double-double (14 kills, 10 digs) in a North Group 2 championship-match victory. He added 180 digs and 51 aces.
