Should the Boston Celtics have traded Jaylen Brown for Kevin Durant?

At the end-of-season presser, Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens expressed a strong desire to keep star wing Jaylen Brown on the team. However, tension between Brown and the Celtics still seems to exist, possibly related to previous trade rumors that connected him to now-Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant as a potential trade option.

It could also be related to the fact that a small but vocal subset of analysts and fans have been putting Brown into every trade machine they see after the Georgia native’s tough showing in the 2023 East finals, but it could also simply be a product of Brown staying quiet about a supermax extension he doesn’t want to lose leverage with.

Some of the weird vibes from the end of the season had the hosts of the Athletic “NBA Show” podcast pondering whether the Celtics should have traded Jaylen Brown for Kevin Durant when they had the chance.

Check out the clip embedded below to hear where they came down on Brown’s future in Boston.
