Boiling Springs wins Spartanburg County high school wrestling tournament

Boiling Springs won the Spartanburg County high school boys wrestling tournament Saturday with a 204-185 decision over Byrnes in the 10-team event.

Individual champions for Boiling Springs were Luke Hillers (106 pounds), Eric Ellis (150) and JoJo Barrett (157). Jonathan Cortes (165) and Carlos Rios (175) were runners-up for the Bulldogs.

Dorman was third with 179 points, followed by Chesnee (161), Woodruff (120.5), Broome (85.5), Spartanburg (70), High Point Academy (70), Chapman (43) and Landrum (9).

Other individual winners were Logan Anderson (113) of Byrnes, Hampton Higdon (120) of Byrnes, Sylas Woodward (126) of Chapman, Hunter Barnette (132) of Dorman, Conner Beaudin (138) of Byrnes, Thadeus Gerstenacker (144) of Chesnee, Aaron Sturgill (165) of Dorman, Terrell Edwards (175) of Dorman, Said Gasimov (190) of High Point, Enahjay Fowler (215) of Dorman, and Aiden Allen (285) of Chesnee.

Upper State finals are scheduled for Feb. 17 and 18 at Hillcrest. State finals are scheduled for Feb. 24-24 at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center. Boiling Springs and Dorman made the Upper State semifinals last year.
