BoCoPreps 10&10: Week 7

Oct. 2—Each full week of the fall season, BoCoPreps will highlight 10 teams and 10 athletes that had exceptional performances. While our staff will utilize multiple avenues to compile these lists, readers are encouraged to submit nominations to our email (results@bocopreps.com).

10 teams

Broomfield boys soccer: The Eagles have won seven straight, beating Horizon and Boulder last week. They're currently tied atop the Front Range League-South with Legacy.

Broomfield football: Quarterbacks CT Worley and Darien Jackson combined for four touchdowns as last week's Select Media Poll 4A No. 5 Eagles handily beat No. 8 Dakota Ridge, 49-21. Worley ran for 191 yards and scored twice on the ground. Jackson was 6-for-6 passing for 65 yards and a pair of scores.

Centaurus boys cross country: Led by Jacob Schwarting's second-place finish (15:26.30), the Warriors won the Pat Patten Invitational Saturday in Boulder.

Fairview football: Junior quarterback Bekkem Kritza made his Fairview return, throwing for 236 yards and two scores in a 56-0 win over Poudre. All five of the Knights' wins this season have been by mercy rule.

Frederick boys soccer: The Golden Eagles won both their games last week, posting 4-0 wins against Mountain View and Riverdale Ridge.

Jefferson Academy volleyball: The No. 4 Jaguars bounced back from their first loss of the season with sweeps over The Academy and Eagle Ridge Academy last week. Monica Slusser combined for 14 kills in them.

Legacy softball: The Lightning won four straight last week, improving to 12-8 on the year. They scored 10 or more runs in each of them.

Longmont volleyball: The Trojans, 10-4 this fall, are on an eight-match winning streak, beating Mead in five sets before sweeping Greeley Central last week.

Niwot cross country: Addison Ritzenhein won the sweepstakes race at the Desert Twilight in Arizona Saturday with a time of 16 minutes and 44.90 seconds. Mia Prok (second, 17:31.80), Avalon Beltran (third, 17:38.10), Olivia Alessandrini (fourth, 17:50.80) and Cayden Justice (fifth, 17:54.20) followed in suit, leading the girls' team to a perfect score. Rocco Culpepper (second, 15:11.10) led the boys to a runaway win in its sweepstakes race. A second Niwot boys team won the championship race.

Skyline boys soccer: The Falcons beat Roosevelt 10-0 and Niwot 2-1 last week. Brian Heredia has 13 goals and five assists in eight games for Skyline, which is currently fifth in the 4A CHSAA Selection and Seeding Index.

10 athletes

Blake Barnett, Erie football: He had five touchdowns as the last week's 4A No. 2 Tigers led 36-3 over 2022 runner-up Loveland after three quarters. The Tigers went on to win 36-19. He's 11 TDs shy of all-pro running back Christian McCaffrey's 11-man career TD record.

Anne Booth, Niwot softball: Booth went 4 for 4, slugging two home runs and driving in six in an 11-1 win over Frederick. The Cougars, who were 9-14 last year, are 15-6-1 this fall.

Rahman Carson, Skyline football: The senior running back rushed for 182 yards and a score in the Falcons' first win of the season, beating Silver Creek 29-26.

Sadie Elliott, Broomfield volleyball: The junior recorded 15 kills in a five-set win over Legacy Friday.

Emmaline Humphreys, Holy Family softball: In eight frames in the circle last week, she allowed one hit across wins against Greeley West and Windsor. She struck out 15 in a 9-0 win over Greeley West and struck out the side in her inning against the Wizards (2-1 win).

Chase Knopf, Prospect Ridge Academy football: He threw for a season-high 274 and four touchdowns in a 68-35 loss to Bennett. He ran for a career-best 112 yards and scored another TD on the ground.

Lucas Montera, Legacy boys soccer: With an assist in a 1-0 win over Northglenn last week, Montera has recorded at least a point in seven of eight games for the soccer team coming into the week. He's also 17 of 18 in point-after attempts and 2 for 2 in field goals for the football team.

Addie Osborne, Erie softball: She slugged home runs 13 and 14 of the season last week, tying for the national lead this fall.

Makenzie Sais, Frederick softball: The senior went 9 for 9 stealing bases last week. She has a state-most 52 stolen bases this fall and 174 in her career.

Kylan Studebaker, Legacy football: He had six catches for 175 yards and three scores as Legacy beat Rangeview 55-0 Thursday. It was the program's fourth-most receiving yards in a game, per stats keeper Douglas Dietel.
