BoCoPreps 10&10: Week 12

Nov. 6—Each full week of the fall season, BoCoPreps will highlight 10 teams and 10 athletes that had exceptional performances. While our staff will utilize multiple avenues to compile these lists, readers are encouraged to submit nominations to our email (results@bocopreps.com).

Broomfield boys' soccer: The No. 7 Eagles (14-2-2) beat No. 2 Ralston Valley 2-1 in overtime Saturday to advance to the 5A semifinals. They face No. 14 Cherokee Trail at the University of Denver Tuesday.

Broomfield gymnastics: Mia Ritchie finished eighth in the all-around competition and the Eagles finished second at the 5A gymnastics meet Thursday.

Gymnastics: Broomfield ties for 5A runner-up

Centaurus boys' soccer: The 4A No. 2 Warriors (16-0-2) scored twice in a span of 18 seconds late in the second half to push past No. 7 Steamboat Springs 2-1 Saturday afternoon and into semifinals. They face No. 3 Battle Mountain Wednesday at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood.

Boys soccer: Centaurus rallies again; advances to semifinals

Frederick football: The Golden Eagles (6-4) beat George Washington 45-7 Thursday night, finishing atop the 3A North Central League with Mead and Riverdale Ridge. Frederick is the 12th seed in the 16-team 3A postseason and travels to No. 5 Lutheran Friday.

Holy Family volleyball: The Tigers (18-7) beat Golden and Roosevelt to win regionals and advance to the 4A state tournament this weekend. The eighth seed in the bracket, they open the tournament against No. 9 Cheyenne Mountain Thursday at the Denver Coliseum.

Jefferson Academy volleyball: The Jaguars (23-2) beat Aspen and Wellington in straight sets to win their regional and advance to the 3A state tournament. They're the 2 seed this weekend, and after a first-round bye at the Denver Coliseum Thursday they will face the winner of No. 7 Resurrection Christian and No. 10 Colorado Springs Christian School.

Legacy football: The No. 17 Lightning (7-4) beat No. 16 Eaglecrest 28-14 to move in the 5A postseason. They travel to No. 1 Cherry Creek Friday.

Lyons football: The No. 4 Lions (10-0) beat No. 13 Akron 60-12 in the opening round of the 8-man postseason. They face No. 5 Dove Creek Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Niwot gymnastics: The Cougars finished fourth at the 4A gymnastics meet Friday. Lilly O'Neill tied for fourth in the all-around competition.

Gymnastics: Niwot goes out with top season score at 4A state

Niwot volleyball: The Cougars (17-8) took first at regionals, topping Longmont and Denver North to advance to the 4A state tournament. They face No. 6 Palisade Thursday at the Denver Coliseum.

Ella Andersen, Longmont volleyball: The senior recorded 15 kills in a four-set loss to Niwot in Saturday's regional.

Omari Bursey, Legacy football: The senior returned a fumble for a score and also had a receiving and rushing touchdown in his team's opening-round win over Eaglecrest. He finished with 14 tackles (three for loss) and two sacks.

Football: Legacy blasts past Eaglecrest in first round of 5A playoffs

Stephanie Congdon, Frederick volleyball: Despite getting swept in two matches at regionals, Congdon had 12 kills, two aces and 27 digs.

Miles Dumbauld, Lyons football: He had 231 and four touchdowns through the air and also scored twice on the ground in Lyons' 60-12 opening-round win in 8-man football.

Laila Gallaher, Jefferson Academy volleyball: The senior had 14 kills and five aces at regionals, helping send the Jags to the 3A state tournament.

Jordan Lohr, Mead football: The senior kicker was good twice in Mead's 6-3 win over Riverdale Ridge Friday, hitting the game-winning try in the final seconds.

About last night: Week 11 in preps football

Kolby Holmes, Longmont football: He threw for 246 yards and four scores and ran for another 85 and two TDs in the Trojans' opening-round loss to Pueblo West in 4A.

Macy Mahoney, Broomfield volleyball: The senior had 20 kills at regionals as the Eagles went 1-1 on the day, beating Cherokee Trail before falling to Castle View. She also had 22 digs and 35 assists.

Elijah Smith, Broomfield soccer: The senior captain scored in the 88th minute to send the Eagles past Ralston Valley and into the 5A semifinals.

Ryder Villarreal, Fairview football: In an opening round loss to Fountain-Fort Carson Friday, the junior was a bright spot, recording a season-high 16 tackles, 11 of them solo and two behind the line. He finished the year with 122 tackles.
