Bob Jones defeats Central-Phenix City in Game 3 of AHSAA Class 7A baseball State Championship

JACKSONVILLE — In Game 3 of the Class 7A championship series, Bob Jones defeated Central Phenix-City 12-5 to claim its first state championship.

After a 6-2 victory in Game 2, Central Phenix-City jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Mississippi State baseball commit Braden Booth drilled a two-run home run to tie up the score in the bottom of the inning.

With a tie score at the top of the fourth inning, Bob Jones sent home four runners to extend its lead to 7-3. Myles Hammond and Cam Martin finished with two RBIs each for Bob Jones.

In the bottom of the fifth, Bob Jones scored five runs making the game out of reach for Central-Phenix. They will finish as back-to-back state runner ups.

Braden Booth was named the Class 7A state tournament MVP after finishing with the only home runs hit throughout the AHSAA state tournament.
