Blue Mountain inducts 8 into Hall of Fame

Oct. 14—Blue Mountain inducted eight new members into its All-Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony at halftime of Friday's football game against Saucon Valley at the Eagles' Nest.

This year's inductees include:

John Dobrolsky Jr.

A 1986 graduate, Dobrolsky excelled at baseball, earning four varsity letters.

As a pitcher, Dobrolsky earned All-County honors as a junior and senior, compiling an 11-0 record his junior season. He also played first base and shortstop. His senior year batting average of .585 was a school and county record at the time.

Dobrolsky was named Reading Eagle Player of the Year for Berks and Schuylkill leagues for two years and the Allentown Morning Call Player of the Year one year. He was selected to play in the Pennsylvania American Legion East/West All-Star Game. He also earned two varsity letters in basketball.

After graduation, Dobrolsky was a four-year letterman for the Shippensburg University baseball team and was the 1987 PSAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year.

Dobrolsky lives in Downingtown with wife and two children. He is employed by Norit Americas as a technical sales manager.

Brook Gosch

Gosch graduated from Blue Mountain in 2010, earning three letters in wrestling at the 189- and 215-pound weight classes.

Gosch was a Schuylkill League champion and earned three District 11 silver medals. He wrestled to second- and third-place finishes at the Class 3A Northeast Regional and was a two-time PIAA state qualifier. He finished his Blue Mountain career with 106 wins.

Gosch also earned three letters in football, playing multiple positions. He was selected as the Blue Mountain football scholar-athlete his senior year.

Following graduation, Gosch received a commission to the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he was a four-year member of the wrestling team. Gosch then cross-commissioned to the U.S. Army, where he served five years as a field artillery officer, achieving the rank of captain.

Gosch and his wife reside in York, where he is employed as a medical device sales representative for Globus Medical.

Andrew Howell

A 2001 graduate, Howell earned three varsity letters in football, helping Blue Mountain win a pair of District 11 championships and finish as runner-up one year.

Howell was a two-way starter at running back and linebacker. He was selected to the All-County first team twice and earned All-Anthracite first team. Howell finished with 39 career touchdowns. Howell also earned three letters on the baseball team and participated in wrestling two years.

After graduation, Howell enrolled at William Paterson University in New Jersey, where he played football four years. He was a team co-captain and earned all-conference honors three years. Howell was head football coach at Rutherford (N.J.) High School for 10 years, where his teams won two New Jersey state championships.

Howell resides in Rutherford, where he is vice-principal of Pompton Lakes Middle School.

Alexa Jones Hauer

A 2009 graduate, Jones Hauer was a multi-sport standout who earned 11 varsity letters in her career.

With the volleyball team, Jones Hauer earned three letters and was team captain her senior year. In her senior year, she was named as Schuylkill League Division I Player of the Year, named to the all-league first team and District 11 first team.

In swimming, Jones Hauer earned four letters and was selected team captain her senior year. She was a Schuylkill League champion and District 11 bronze medalist. Running for the track team, she earned four letters in track events, qualifying for the league and district meet all four seasons.

Following graduation, Jones Hauer enrolled at Albright College, where she was a four-year starter for the volleyball team and was selected captain her senior year and earned All-Conference Academic Honors.

Jones Hauer resides in Tamaqua, where she is on the faculty of the Tamaqua Area School District.

John Reilly

A 2009 graduate, Reilly excelled in cross country and track, earning four varsity letters in each sport.

In cross country, he was a four-time Schuylkill League Division I all-star and the league champion his senior year. He earned three fifth-place medals at the District 11 Cross Country Championships and was a four-time PIAA state qualifier. He earned a PIAA medal his senior year, finishing 23rd. Reilly still holds the Blue Mountain cross country course record.

Running in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter events for the track team, Reilly was a Schuylkill League champion in both events his senior year. He finished second at districts in the 3,200 and was a PIAA state qualifier.

After graduation, Reilly attended Shippensburg University on a cross country/track scholarship, where he competed in those sports all four years.

Reilly resides in Ashland. He has served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 12 years and is currently a Staff Sergeant for the 94th Training Division at Fort Indiantown Gap.

Madyson Riegel

Graduating in 2014, Riegel was a standout athlete on the soccer and track teams, earning four letters in each sport.

Riegel was a four-year starter on the girls' soccer team, earning All-County second-team honors as a freshman and first-team honors the next three seasons. She earned All-State recognition for the PA Soccer Coaches Association Team her junior and senior years. Riegel was named as both the Blue Mountain Soccer Scholar-Athlete and the Blue Mountain Female Scholar-Athlete her senior year. She held the school records for career points scored. During her career, the soccer team won four Schuylkill League championships, two District 11 crowns and qualified for the PIAA state tournament three times.

For the track team, Riegel qualified for the District 11 meet two times in the javelin and was a PIAA state qualifier, finishing in the top 10.

After graduation, Riegel earned a soccer and track scholarship to The Citadel. She was All-Southern Conference in both sports her freshman year. In the javelin, she won two titles at the Southern Conference League Meet, was second once and fourth once.

Riegel lives in Saint Clair and works for Geisinger Health System.

Richard Wildermuth

A 1971 graduate, Wildermuth was a three-sport standout, earning nine varsity letters.

In football, he earned three letters as a two-way starter at quarterback and defensive back. In basketball, he earned three letters as a two-year starter, averaging more than 10 points per game. On the baseball team, he also earned three letters as shortstop and pitcher, leading the Eagles in batting average his senior year.

Wildermuth was recently inducted into the Allen-Rogowicz Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He is retired and resides in Wayne Township.

Glen Belmont

Belmont is an Honorary Inductee, a category reserved for those who have made lasting contributions to the Blue Mountain athletics legacy. She achieved this distinction for her efforts and dedication to the Blue Mountain youth and high school swim programs, where she coached and mentored for many years.

Belmont grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from Frankford High School, where she competed in field hockey and swimming. She graduated from Temple University, where she participated on the swim team. She then taught Health and Physical Education for 31 years in the Philadelphia Public School System, mostly at Mastbaum High, where she coached swimming, volleyball and basketball.

Relocating to the Orwigsburg area in the late 1990s, Belmont began her involvement with the Blue Mountain swim programs, with countless athletes benefitting from her passion and guidance. The middle school natatorium was named in her honor.

Belmont passed away in 2019 at the age of 86.
