Blue Jays place DH Morales on DL
The Toronto Blue Jays placed designated hitter/first baseman Kendrys Morales on the 10-day disabled list with a hamstring injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Morales was injured while running out a single during the second inning of Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. He was replaced by a pinch runner later in the inning.
Manager John Gibbons said Morales is expected to be recovered when his 10-day DL stint concludes.
Toronto recalled left-hander Tim Mayza from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the roster spot. Mayza, 26, went 1-0 with a 6.88 ERA in 19 relief appearances for the Blue Jays last season.
Morales is batting .227 with one homer and six RBIs in 22 at-bats.
