Bloomington area high school daily roundup for Oct. 30-Nov. 4

Here's a rundown of the high school sports events in the Bloomington area for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 4:

Saturday, Nov. 4

Girls' basketball

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 56, COLUMBUS EAST 30: The Panthers got a pair of double-doubles from Abbie Lucas and Julia Lashley to power past the Olympians (1-1) in their season opener. Lashley had a 21-point, 11-rebound, six-assist debut while Lucas added 10 points and 10 boards. Violet Hall had 15 points. South led 30-19 at halftime and ended up holding Columbus East to just 17 points in the last three periods.

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 64, GREENWOOD 48: The Cougars (1-1) rallied in the fourth quarter by going 18-of-18 at the line to power a 30-point period and erase a 36-34 deficit to hand new coach Kiley Jarrett her first career win. North, which was 24-of-27 overall on free throws, led 27-18 at the break. Ava Robbennolt had 18 points, Mia Robbennolt and Ava Reitmeyer had 16 each and Ashley Stegmoller 14. The Woodmen fell to 0-2.

SOUTH KNOX 67, EASTERN GREENE 28: South Knox won its season opener with a 44-point outburst in the second half. The T-Birds (0-2) trailed just 23-15 at the break but struggled to finish. Keylee Hudson had nine points and six rebounds for Eastern and Mallorie Elliott 6 and 9.

Friday, Nov. 3

Girls' basketball

EDGEWOOD 38, GREENCASTLE 24: Greencastle jumped out to a 12-5 lead after one period, then the Mustangs put the breaks on the Tiger Cubs, holding them to just 12 more points in the last three quarters. Madi Bland fueled the comeback, scoring 10 of her 16 points in a 14-5 run in the second quarter. Ally Bland added nine points.

LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 51, CROTHERSVILLE 32: Ellie Mae Winders had 16 points and Abagail Rousey 14 to pace the Lions in their season-opening win. Victoria Mann had 8 points.

Thursday, Nov. 2

Girls' basketball

NORTHVIEW 53, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 38: It was a rough opener on offense for new coach Kiley Jarrett. The Cougars trailed 21-13 at the break and got within four in the third before the Knights (1-1) broke away in the fourth. Ava Robbennolt had 11 points, Ava Reitmeyer 8 and Ashley Stegmoller 7 for North, which shot just two free throws. Northview was 11-of-21. Stats at MaxPreps.

OWEN VALLEY 53, DUGGER UNION 21: A 22-point third quarter outburst broke the game over for the Patriots (1-0) in their opener. It was just an 18-10 lead at the half for OV.

Tuesday, Oct. 31

Girls' basketball

EDGEWOOD 42, WEST VIGO 32: Mustangs win season and WIC opener without starting forward Macey Crider (ankle), going up 30-10 by halftime and hanging on. Madi Bland had 12 points, Ally Bland 10 and Ava Laroche 7 for Edgewood. Complete stats at MaxPreps.

VINCENNES RIVET 48, EASTERN GREENE 43: Rivet scored the first 11 points and hung on as Eastern Greene sank six 3-pointers in the second half. Keylee Hudson had 15 points, Bianca Wyatt nine and Chyann Padgett 7 for the T-Birds in their season opener. Rivet led 30-19 at halftime and 40-29 after three periods.
