Here's a rundown of Bloomington area high school sports events for the week of April 15-20.

Saturday, April 20

Boys' track

EDGEWOOD INVITATIONAL: Bloomington North scored 186½ points to top South (127) and Edgewood (28) was eighth. The Cougars saw two school records fall as senior Jaidyn Johnson sped to a 10.34 in the 100 and a stunning 21.15 in the 200. He had lowered his school record just the week before to 10.38, but the 200 record (Thomas Brashear's 21.44) had stood since the 1997 state finals. South's Khaliq Akou (11.11) and Gabe Taylor (11.16) also had career bests in the 100. Evan Cheng set the North sophomore record to win the long jump with a 22-5¼. Jacob Mitchell had to win a sprint to take the 3,200 (9:30.76) by .11. Ethan Isles and Will Steiner each had season bests 13-0s to go 1-2 in pole vault. North also got wins from Dominic D'Onofrio in the 800 (1:59.21), Max Wynalda in the shot put (56-1½) the 400 relay (42.86) and 3,200 relay (8:23.44). South's winners were D'Andre Black in the 110 hurdles (14.70). Black looked to be on his way to a sub-40 in the 300s before hitting the next-to-last hurdle and going down, allowing teammate Noah Liell-Beyene (43.04). Josh Tait took the 400 (50.05). Girls' track

EDGEWOOD INVITATIONAL: Bloomington North pulled out the team title over Castle (149 1/3-142 1/3). South, resting most of its distance crew after Friday's night's performances at Carmel, was fourth (70), Edgewood was fifth (63 1/3). The Cougars saw Hadley Lucas come up with a school-recordbreaking throw of 170-0 on her last effort to win that event, while freshman Ashley Greer PR'd at 119-4 for fourth. Hadley also had a 48-8 to win shot put. Dede Eberle went 14.67 to win the 100 hurdles, 47.99 to take the 300s and 18-2½ to take long jump and she anchored the Cougars' to a 50.35 to win the 400 relay. Nola Somers Glenn took the 800 (2:18.22). North went 4:10.47 to win the 1,600 relay.

South, which won the 3,200 relay (9:54.97) saw Ellie Barada (57.92) nip Edgewood's Emma Edwards (58.59) in the 400. Edwards had a 26.85 for second in the 200 and a 4-10 for second in high jump. Baseball

MOORESVILLE 15-6, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 4-0: The No. 7 Pioneers (10-2) flexed their muscles in the six-inning opener, ending it early with a nine-run fifth. IU recruit Hogan Denny had one of Mooresville's two homers and drove in five. Brady Chambers went the distance for the Pioneers while the Cougars used five arms. Drew Wagner homered with two RBIs for North. In Game 2, the Cougars (5-5) were limited to two hits by three hurdlers and struck out nine times, singles by Graham Freund and Will Breedlove. NEW ALBANY 10, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 6: An eight-game win streak came to an end as a 5-0 lead in the top of the second disappeared after the Bulldogs (7-5) plated eight on the bottom half. South (8-2) was scoreless the last three innings. Box score at MaxPreps.

EASTERN GREENE 12, NORTH CENTRAL 2 (5 inn.): The T-Birds (8-1, 2-0) have won eight straight. Peyton Lewis was 2-for-3 with a homer. Kasen Cullison was 3-for-4 as was Jonas Hawk, adding two RBI. Will Inman had two RBI and went three innings with Gavin Whitfield closing it out, giving up no runs and fanning five.

Softball

NEW ALBANY 7, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 1: It was a 2-1 game before the Bulldogs (2-9) used a four-run fifth to pull away. Molly Klein and Madison Maxwell each had two hits for the Cougars, while Grayson Gill drove in the only run. Klein and Kendyl Feutz combined to strike out nine. Box score at MaxPreps.

NORTH CENTRAL 12, EASTERN GREENE 1 (5 inn.): North Central (5-3, 1-1) rolled in the SWIAC contest, putting it away with a six-run top of the fifth. Eastern was held to one hit (a Clara Hawk single) by NC pitcher Mykenzie Wence, who struck out only two. The defense committed six errors, leading to eight unearned runs. Box score at MaxPreps.

Boys' golf

BOB ARNETT INVITATIONAL: Greencastle (317), Northview (329), South Knox (326) took the top three spots at Rea Park while Bloomington North was seventh with a 335. Cougars were led by Hogan Conder (80), who tied for fourth,. Rex Speer (84), Grant McRea (85) and Zach Farzad (92). North's B team shot a 382, led by Eden Yoder (90).

JASPER SHOWCASE AT SULTAN'S RUN: No. 7 Bloomington South tied for fifth with a 317 in a loaded field at Sultan's Run. No. 1 Hamilton Southeastern won with a 297 to top Westfield (299). Castle and Center Grove (312) tied for third and the Panthers were even with Gibson Southern. Happy Gilmore tied for fifth to lead the Panthers with a 75 while Connor Byon tied for 13th with a 77. Luke Garrett had an 83, Colton Watson an 84 and Carson Gady an 88.

Girls' tennis

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 5, MOORESVILLE 0: At 1 doubles, Brooke Liao and Carla Demeter pulled out a 7-5, 3-6, (10-6) win to complete the sweep.

PROVIDENCE 3, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 2: In the second match at Mooresville, the Panthers got wins from Carlota Campos at 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and the No. 2 doubles team of Quinn Reynolds and Everly Clark, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Friday, April 19

Boys track

CARMEL DISTANCE SHOWCASE: Martinsville's Martin Barco, who won the mile at Franklin Central last week, turned two, going 8:48.20 in the 3,200 to top Cameron Todd of Brebeuf Jesuit (8:49.08) in Heat 8. The fast heat also saw North's Jack Holden finish 15th in 9:16.53; Caelan D'Onofrio 17th in 9:17.53 and Jacob Mitchell 25th in 9:34.19. South senior Ryan Rheam had a successful season debut in Heat 7, going 9:18.45 (a 9:15.01 won it) while teammate Joe Zinkan was 13th (9:30.50). In Heat 6, Edgewood's Jackson Klinger was 10th (9:32.06) and North's Aden Pierce was 16th (9:37.29). Heat 3 saw North's Jake Gentry take third in 9:50.76 and Nathan Campbell 13th (9:54.94). Freshmen races: South had five entrants, led by Luke Reinhart, 23rd in 10:21.62; James Rice, 29th in 10:24.14 and Garrett Pitkin, 30th in 10:24.74. Complete results at Athletic.net.

LINTON INVITATIONAL: Eastern Greene won the team title with 151. James Lewis was the High Point Winner, taking the 100 (11.47), 200 (23.00) and finishing second via tie-breaker for the top spot in the long jump (18-11¾). He also anchored the 4x400 to a win in 3:38.60. Roman Valentine (11-0) and Brayden Heerdink (9-6) went 1-2 in pole vault, while Valentine and Brayten Enlow were 3-4 in 110 hurdles and 2-3 in the 300's. Jade Dawes was second in the 400 (52.99), third in 800 (2:11.43), second in 1,600 (4:52.18) and anchored the 4x800 to third (9:10.79). Peyton New was fifth in the discus (117-9) and sixth in shot put (43-3). Jacob Crites and Oliver Pate were also 4-5 in the 3,200. The T-Birds also won the 4x100 by .01 (46.87). Girls' track

CARMEL DISTANCE SHOWCASE: South's Lexi Kollbaum was 18th in the fifth and fastest heat of the 3,200 in 11:07.46, ranking her as the No. 3 freshman. In Heat 4, Edgewood's Hannah Crain was 12th in 11:23.77 with Riley Haskett 28th in 11:54.22. Heat 3, South's Julianna Hoover was 12th in 11:43.68 and Kate Barada 14th in 11:46.41. Heat 2, North's Hayden McGuire took seventh (11:49.32) with South's Tamara Kun 12th (12:07.02). In Heat 1, Edgewood's Ellie Vagedas was third in 11:53.60. Complete results at Athletic.net.

LINTON INVITATIONAL: Eastern Greene placed third (76½) while Linton, led by Sophie Hale who broke meet records in the 100 hurdles, long jump and 400 relay, was first with 184. Lilyanna Blais won the 800 (2:35.78) and was second in the 1,600 (5:41.87). Esther Crane took the 3,200 by 28 seconds in 12:15.81. Clara Hawk was fifth in the 300 hurdles (55.64) while Kena Maddox was third in the high jump (4-8). The T-Birds were also second in all three relays (55.09; 4:37.28; 11:48.81). EDGEWOOD 13, MARTINSVILLE 4: Mustangs (6-3) rally from 4-0 deficit, finishing it off with an eight-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth. Andrew Good and Gunner Perry each went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Nolan Hudson delivered five innings of two-hit, seven-strikeout relief to get the win. Box score at MaxPreps.

Softball

EDGEWOOD 5, LINTON 0: Ally Bland came up with another strong performance, tossing a three-hitter while striking out 16. Mustangs (7-5-1) had just three hits, with Bland knocking in two runs, but also drew six walks to go with four Miner errors. Box score at MaxPreps.

Girls' tennis

EDGEWOOD 4, NORTH DAVIESS 1: Mustangs (6-2) ended a long five-match week with a win. Macy Vaughn had the highlight win at 1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, (10-6). Complete results, Edgewood Athletics.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 4, MARTINSVILLE 1: Panthers made quick work of it at four of the five spots, dropping just four games.

Thursday, April 18

Baseball

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 7, WEST VIGO 6 (10 inn.): Might be the game of the year so far as Keagan Palileo drew a walk-off bases-loaded walk with two outs to finally end it. Panthers (8-1) had to rally twice to save the day. South trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh and loaded the bases for Luke Arnett, who stroked a sacrifice fly to right to score Lucas Waldon. In the ninth, South was down 6-4 and Arnett had another big RBI hit before the Panthers loaded the bases again with two outs and tied it with a passed ball.

Girls' tennis

EDGEWOOD 5, SOUTH PUTNAM 0: The Mustangs' fourth match in four days ended with a quick WIC sweep. Complete results at Edgewood Athletics.

TERRE HAUTE SOUTH 5, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 0: Two losses came in a third set for the Panthers (2-3, 1-1).

Softball

TERRE HAUTE SOUTH 2, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 1 (12 inn.): A scoreless pitcher's duel was finally broken up in the 12th inning, leaving the Panthers on the short end of a heartbreaker. Kinsey Clopton (191 pitches) struck out a school record 24 while Emma Cesinger (177) went the distance for THS. In the top half of the 12th, a two-out RBI triple by Marcia Parker. who scored off a hit by Cesinger to make it 2-0 THS (9-5, 1-1). Then in the bottom half, Brooke Koontz was hit by a pitch to lead off. Clopton singled, then Koontz stole third and stole home as pinch runner Tyana Jones stole second. But a strikeout, flyout and groundout ended it. Clopton tossed a four-hitter with five walks. Panthers (5-5, 0-1) had six hits. Box score at MaxPreps.

EASTERN GREENE 12, LOOGOOTEE 7: The T-Birds (4-5) have won four of their last six. Four runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth built a big enough lead. Claira McGee and Bailee Tieman each had two hits and three RBIs for Eastern, which had 12 hits. Addy Ramey got the win. Box score at MaxPreps.

LIGHTHOUSE AT ORLEANS: The girls portion saw the Lions score 21 points to place third. 100: 1. Marissa Webb, 13.53; 4. Naomi Connell 15.09. 200: 2. Ava Fritz 31.4. 1600: 4. Lily Yang 7:31. 4x100: 1. LCA (Esther Huang, Connell, Fritz, Webb) 58.0. 4x400: 2. LCA (Yang, Huang, Fritz, Connell) 5:24. Long jump: 2. Connell 13-1.

The Lion boys did not score.

Wednesday, April 17

Baseball

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 18, BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 8: Jake Arnett homered and drove in five runs in the road rout for the Panthers (7-1). The game was tied at 7 after four innings.

EDGEWOOD 20, SULLIVAN 1 (5 inn.): The Mustangs (5-3, 2-0) exploded for 10 runs in the fifth to end it early. Jacob Boggs tossed a two-hitter. Andrew Good had three hits and three RBI while Aaron Murphy had four RBI and Ziggy Teran three. Mack Headdy also walked three times. Box score at MaxPreps.

EASTERN GREENE 10, PIKE CENTRAL 6: T-Birds (7-1) won their seventh straight, going up 7-2 after three innings and hanging on. Will Inman went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Peyton Lewis was 2-for-3 and Jonas Hawk had two hits and two RBI. Box score at MaxPreps.

WEST VIGO 7, OWEN VALLEY 0: Patriots (2-3, 0-2) struggled against Viking pitching.

EASTERN GREENE 19, GREENWOOD CHRISTIAN 2 (5 inn.): The T-Birds (3-6) hammered out 15 hits and put it away quick with a nine-run third. Jessica Hovious tossed a two-hitter. Addy Ramey and Ashlynn Bellman each had two hits and three RBI. Melanie Wyatt and Delanie Davis each drove in two. Box score at MaxPreps.

SULLIVAN 1, EDGEWOOD 0: Addy Bland was outdueled by Sullivan's Kate Ridgway, an Evansville signee, who tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Bland gave up just five hits and the lone run came in the sixth inning. Jayden Stephens had the only hit for the Mustangs (6-5-1, 1-1). Box score on MaxPreps.

WEST VIGO 11, OWEN VALLEY 1 (5 inn.): Jaleigh Lindley tossed a two-hitter, giving up a homer to Taylor Bernard for OV's only run. West Vigo led 8-0 after two innings. Box score on MaxPreps.

BROWN COUNTY 4, EDGEWOOD 1: Playing their third match in three days and just 24 hours after tripping up rival North, the Mustangs struggled to fall to 2-2 in WIC action. Maris Holmes and Wren Millick at 2 doubles had Edgewood's only win, 6-1, 6-3. Complete results at Edgewood Athletics.

EDGEWOOD 184, BROWN COUNTY 195: The Mustangs won at Salt Creek, led by Zayne Dwigans (44) and Calvin McDonald (46), while Owen McGovern had a 48 in his first match of the season. Complete scores at Edgewood Athletics.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 299, MARTINSVILLE 337: The No. 3 Panthers did a great job navigating Fox Cliff on a blustery day with Luke Garrett shooting a 1-under 71, Happy Gilmore 72 and Colton Watson 74 to lead the way. Connor Byon and Carson Gady each shot 82s.

Tuesday, April 16

Girls' tennis

EDGEWOOD 3, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 2: The Mustangs (4-1) pulled out another close win as the No. 2 doubles team of Wren Millick and Maris Holmes rebounded for a 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-1 win over Sara Venturieri and Mira Koduri to clinch the rare victory over the Cougars. Edgewood's other wins came at 1 doubles where Marly Jackson and Sophia Kapperman beat Igrid Pendergast and Hope Isbitt, 6-0, 6-2 and at 3 singles, where Boston Chambers beat Emily Talbot, 6-4, 6-3. North's wins came at 2 singles, Rahel Samantrai beat Ellen Jackson, 6-4, 6-1 and 1 singles as Keira Murphy rolled by Macy Vaughn, 6-1, 6-1.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 3, TERRE HAUTE NORTH 2: Panthers lift mark to 2-2 with a win in the CI opener.

Boys' golf

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 306, BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 338: Happy Gilmore fired a 74 and Luke Garrett a 75 to lead the No. 3 Panthers at a breezy Otis Park. Connor Byon (77) and Colton Watson (80) rounded out South's effort.

EDGEWOOD 177, LINTON 238: The Mustangs won at Phil Harris, led by Carter Cheaney (39). Calvin McDonald and Mitch Deckard each had 45s and Ean Connor (48), Hank Ripley (50) and Zayne Dwigans (52) rounded out the scoring.

ORLEANS 171, EASTERN GREENE 196, MITCHELL 223, LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 246: Korbin Ikerd had a 43 to pace the T-Birds at Stonecrest.

Baseball

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 5, TERRE HAUTE NORTH 2: Cole Grupenhoff tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-hit ball and got some help in the fourth when he was at the plate, as an error with the bases loaded brought home all three runners to make it 5-0. The Cougars (5-3, 1-1 CI) had just four hits, THN (3-1, 0-1) finished with three. Box score at MaxPreps.

EDGEWOOD 11, BROWN COUNTY 1 (6 inn.): Ziggy Teran tossed a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk for the Mustangs (4-3, 1-0) in the WIC opener. The Eagles (0-7, 0-2) committed eight errors, while Mack Headdy continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and Isaac Lawson was 3-for-4 and two 2 RBI. Box score at MaxPreps.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 6, TERRE HAUTE SOUTH 6 (PPD, 9th inn): Terre Haute South rallied to tie the game in the sixth, but lightning ended the night with no decision in the Conference Indiana battle. The Panthers had a runner at second with two outs in the top of the ninth when play was halted.

NORTHVIEW 16, OWEN VALLEY 9: The Patriots (2-2, 0-1) had 10 hits but committed six errors to let the Knights get away. Peyton Lear had four hits and three RBI for Northview (4-3, 2-0). Box score at MaxPreps.

Softball

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 13, WHITE RIVER VALLEY 2 (6 inn.): Morgan Cockerill (three innings) and Olivia Roberts combined on a three-hitter for South (5-4). Cockerill also hit a homer and drive in two runs. South had 15 hits including seven for extra bases. Akasha Burton was 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI. Box score at MaxPreps.

COLUMBUS NORTH 8, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 6: A seventh inning rally came up short for the Cougars (2-6, 0-1), who killed themselves with nine errors. Kendyl Feutz had two hits and two RBI. Grayson Gill had two hits and Keylee Taylor had two RBI. Feutz gave up just two earned runs and struck out nine.

OWEN VALLEY 7, NORTHVIEW 6 (10 inn.): Taylor Monroe had a monster night for the Patriots, going 4-for-6 with a home run and six RBI, the last one came in the top of the 10th to win it. It came after a crazy seventh inning that saw the Knights score three runs to go up 6-2 only to see the Patriots (3-4, 1-0) plate four. OV had 16 hits, Haley Amador got the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Box score at MaxPreps.

EDGEWOOD 16, BROWN COUNTY 2 (5 inn.): The Mustangs (6-4-1, 1-0) jumped up 11-0 after two innings and collected 15 hits, including a pair of homers by Jayden Stephens, who drove in five. Ally Bland allowed two hits and fanned 11 over four innings. Box score at MaxPreps.

MITCHELL 5, EASTERN GREENE 2: The Blujackets scored three runs in the fourth and two in the sixth in a game with just nine hits. Addy Ramey took the loss for Eastern (2-6). Jessica Hovious tripled. Box score at MaxPreps.

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 117, COLUMBUS EAST 14: Caleb Winders (1:57.44), Caelan D'Onofrio (1:57.95) lead five Cougars under 2:01 in the 800. Winders (4:25.25), Dominic D'Onofrio (4:25.75) go 1-2 in the 1,600. Max Wynalda (53-0) won shot put and Adis Hamidovic (144-8) won discus. BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 126, MARTINSVILLE 35, BROWN COUNTY 6: Ivan Lynch won the shot put with a 48-9, leading three Panthers who threw 47+, and discus (139-5). Alex Shaevitz won the long jump (21-1) and high jump (6-0). Arthur Banks won pole vault (11-0). Noah Liell-Beyene won the 300H (42.79) and was second in the 110s. EDGEWOOD 99, BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 19: Jackson Klinger took the 1600 (4:42.73) and the 3,200 (10:30.02), combining with Carson Sigman (10:30.40) for 1-2 finish. Landon Clement won the 100 and 200 and Josh Hinson the 400 (52.58) and high jump (5-8). Luke Waugh won long jump (20-7½) and the 300 hurdles (45.77). EASTERN GREENE AT NORTH DAVIESS: Jade Dawes won the 400, 800 and 1,600 for the T-Birds, who also swept the relays. James Lewis won the 200 in 22.28, the 100 and long jump (20-8). Jacob Crites was second in the 3,200. Roman Valentine also won pole vault and was second in both hurdles while Jace Brown and Austin ZInk went 1-2 in high jump. Brody Teague was second in shot put and Peyton New second in discus.

Girls track

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 115½, COLUMBUS EAST 16½: Hadley Lucas broke her school record in the shot put (50-11) with a 52-0 and won discus (136-2). Dede Eberle took 100 (12.22), 200 (26.03) and long jump (17-6). Nola Somers Glenn won the 400 in 59.99 and Hayden McGuire the 800 in 2:25.49. Complete results at abtiming.com.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 90, MARTINSVILLE 49, BROWN COUNTY 12: Ellie Barada won the 200 (26.61) and 400 (57.90) while Adriene Shaevitz (16.23) won the 100H over Violet Hall (17.68), with Annalise Coyne third. EDGEWOOD 76, BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 50: Macey Crider won the 100 (13.23) and 200 (27.93), while Emma Edwards got within .15 of her school record in the 400 with a 58.34 and won high jump. Monday, April 15

Baseball

EDGEWOOD 2, COLUMBUS EAST 1: The Mustangs (3-3) were out-hit 7-4 but scored the winning run in the sixth off a Carter Hayden sac fly that brought Isaac Lawson home. Carson Druckrey went five innings, with reliever Nolan Hudson picking up the win.

EASTERN GREENE 4, SHOALS 3 (10 inn.): Jonas Hawk was 3-for-5 including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th for the T-Birds (6-1), scoring Ty McKnight. Will Inman was 2-for-4 with a double and went six innings, striking out seven. Kasen Cullison went three innings, entering with the bases loaded and no one out but not giving up a run. CENTER GROVE 10, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 0 (5 inn.): The Panthers (4-4) were held to two hits, singles by Carly Reed and Brooke Koontz.
