Moritz Stoppelkamp scores 90-yard half-volley to seal Bundesliga win
A 90-yard half-volley helped put newly promoted Bundesliga side Paderborn top of the table (if only for a moment) with a 2-0 win against Hannover 96. With Paderorn up 1-0 late in the match, Hannover pushed everyone forward for a last-chance free kick — including their goalkeeper. When the ball was cleared to Moritz Stoppelkamp, he turned and launched a shot over the defenders that gently rolled in for an empty-net goal. Simple as that.
Stoppelkamp's goal sealed Paderborn's victory and put them ahead of Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich on goal difference. It set a Bundesliga record for longest goal and it also made for an interesting image on the 2D replay...
