P.K. Subban donates $10 million to Montreal Children's Hospital
Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban is known as one of the more generous souls in the NHL.
Off the ice it seems like he’s constantly looking for a charity to help, always looking for a way to put a smile on a child’s face in some form or fashion.
On Wednesday, it was announced Subban gave a massive gift to the people of Montreal – donating $10 million over a seven-year span to the Montreal Children's Hospital.
The hospital says this is the biggest philanthropic donation ever given by an athlete in Canada.
Because of Subban’s generosity the atrium in the hospital was named after the Habs superstar. You can see the branding in the above photo. He'll also be a spokesperson for fundraising events by Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. The partnership will also see the creation of a fund to help families hurt financially by a child's illness.

Subban, 26, has been involved with countless charities, but the massive donation is his biggest to date. In fact, it's one of the biggest donations the hospital has ever received.
Those that have followed Subban's off-ice exploits will know that he goes out of his way to help children, notably through his charity supporting local hockey with Hyundai's Hockey Helpers, a program that helps thousands of kids afford hockey equipment around the country.
Elise Beliveau, wife of Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau was in attendance for the announcement.
Last summer Subban signed an eight-year $72 million contract with the Canadiens.
Subban often makes himself available to bring a smile to Montreal and Canadiens fans. From surprising a bunch of children by disguising himself as a security guard to stopping in a local Montreal neighborhood and playing a street hockey game, the 2013 Norris Trophy winner is often around and available for the citizens of the city.

"Last year Montreal made a long-term commitment toward me. Now it's my turn to make an engagement to Montreal," said Subban.
"Montreal has become my second home. Montrealers have taken me into their hearts for the past five years that I've been here... and I hope to remain here for a very, very long time."
