NHL Three Stars: Seguin powers Dallas; Stastny wakes up for Blues

No. 1 Star: Tyler Seguin, Dallas Stars

Seguin scored two goals and assisted on Cody Eakin’s opening tally as the Dallas Stars defeated the Montreal Canadiens, 4-1. He now has 21 goals on the season.

No. 2 Star: Paul Stastny, St. Louis Blues

The maligned Blues center scored two goals, including the game-winner, in their 6-4 victory over the New York Islanders. Kevin Shattenkirk had a goal and two assists, while Marty Brodeur won his first game as a Blue.

No. 3 Star: Steve Mason, Philadelphia Flyers

Mason outdueled Jonathan Quick in making 37 saves, as the Flyers defeated the Los Angeles Kings, 2-1. Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds had the goals.

Honorable Mention: Christian Ehrhoff scored with 1:50 left in regulation to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 3-2 win over Ottawa. … Peter Holland, Joffrey Lupul and David Clarkson had a goal and an assist while Jonathan Bernier made 44 saves in the Toronto Maple Leafs topped the Vancouver Canucks, 5-2. … Mike Babcock won his 500th game as the Detroit Red Wings rallied with three goals to defeat the New York Rangers, 3-2. Rick Nash scored his 17th in the loss. … Sergei Bobrovsky made 33 saves as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-1. … Brooks Laich had a goal and an assist in the Washington Capitals’ 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. … Marian Hossa have two goals and Scott Darling made 32 saves in the Chicago Blackhawks’ 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators. … Aaron Ekblad assisted on all three of the goals in Florida’s 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres. He also skated 21:39. … Brad Marchand scored two goals while Dougie Hamilton and Reilly Smith both had two assists in the Boston Bruins’ 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes. … Patrick Marleau broke a 2-2 tie with his third period goal, as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Calgary Flames, 3-2.
