Tim Beckman tries to secure, not scare, new Illinois fans with his rendition of ‘Take Me Out To The Ballgame’

Singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley Field is a rite of passage for coaches in the state of Illinois, and new Illinois coach Tim Beckman has officially joined the club.

In a sad, off-key rendition of Harry Caray's favorite song, Beckman fires up the crowd and makes a few new Illinois fans in the process. At least Beckman didn't have to use a cheat sheet like his predecessor Ron Zook, who belted out one of the worst renditions of the song in recent memory (so bad, you can't even find it anymore).

Hopefully, Beckman's first season has more promise than his singing career.
