The 2017 season will reportedly open with a marquee matchup.

According to the Palm Beach Post, there is an agreement in place for Florida State and Alabama to open the 2017 campaign against one another in Atlanta. Florida State athletic director Stan Wilcox reportedly recently informed Seminoles boosters that “the game is set,” but that a formal contract “has not been signed” yet.

Additionally, per the Post, the schools “will receive between $4 and $5 million for the game.”

The Seminoles and Crimson Tide have combined to win four of the last six national championships and both teams are coming off appearances in the College Football Playoff, though both fell in the semifinals.

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2000-2004 under Alabama head coach Nick Saban when Saban coached at LSU.

The programs have squared off four times – in 1965, 1967, 1974 and most recently in 2007. Alabama won in 1965 and 1974, while the Seminoles won 21-14 in 2007. The teams played to a 37-37 tie in 1967.
