Drone follows Ohio State's Braxton Miller to preseason camp (Video)

Braxton Miller, Ohio State’s quarterback-turned-wide receiver, arrived in style for Buckeyes’ fall camp over the weekend. Not only did Miller step out of his friend’s flashy white Camaro, a drone followed his every move as he stepped into the team’s hotel.

For real.

According to Eleven Warriors, two friends are documenting Miller’s return to the football field.

"This is an idea that me and my friend Regis (Williams) came up for him for his return to football. It’s new and in the workings," Miller’s friend Korey Faulks said. "We’re capturing a lot of footage and putting it together."

Miller missed the entire 2014 season due to a shoulder injury and watched from the sidelines as quarterbacks J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones led the Buckeyes to a national title. Miller’s shoulder isn’t completely healed, so he decided to move positions and let Barrett and Jones duke it out for the starting quarterback role.

Faulks said he can watch the footage captured by the drone via a stream on his iPad. The drone actually tailed the Camaro on the route to the team hotel.

From Eleven Warriors:

Faulks said the equipment for this project — the drone, an iPad, camera, warranty and memory card — cost him roughly $1,800.

When he and Williams picked Miller up to take him to the hotel Sunday, the drone followed them high in the sky capturing the route they took to Grandview Yard.

"I can see a lot. It streams in 720p from the drone to my iPad," Faulks said of the camera. "It goes about 40 MPH and keeps up with the car."

Faulks said it was Williams’ idea to document Miller’s final season with a documentary, which is tentatively titled “The Return of the Real.” Faulks, Williams (an OSU journalism student) and Miller all grew up in Dayton and have known each other since high school, Faulks said.

The reception from people in the football program has been positive so far.

From Eleven Warriors:

"I mean, we were at the Woody earlier and they were amazed," Faulks said. "There was no negative response about it. Got a little footage of that up there."

Even Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer saw the drone flying around as he pulled into the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

"I don't think he was really paying attention when I had it in my hand," Faulks said, smiling.

One man who did see it, though, was co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell.

"Coach Fickell came out and was like, 'Is that a droid?' I was like, 'No sir, it's a drone,'" Faulks said.

Faulks said he has already captured plenty of footage across the state of Ohio. Next, he and Williams hope to make it to a few Buckeyes practices.

"I do this for a living. Shoot music videos, documentaries, commercials," Faulks said. "This is something personal just for Braxton. Hopefully I'll be able to gain access to a couple more games and practices."
