Baylor’s new stadium is about halfway done and is extremely impressive (Video)

The brand new Baylor Stadium is scheduled to open for the Bears for the 2014 season on Aug. 31 against SMU, and a recent update from the Waco Tribune Herald gives us a glimpse into the progress being made.

Jeff Horn, the senior superintendent of the stadium, says the project is “about 46 percent complete,” with about 90 percent of the concrete work and 70 percent of the steel structure complete. The crew is currently working on the sun canopy which is designed to keep fan noise inside the stadium.

The crew hasn’t begun work on the playing field just yet. Horn said that process will take about three months.

The stadium is designed to seat 45,000 fans and will replace Floyd Casey Stadium, the Bears home since 1950. Bordering Lake Brazos, the stadium will definitely have a unique feel as fans.

Check out the renderings on the stadium’s website. They are extremely impressive.
