Binghamton High football hopes to be competitive in Class AA

The Binghamton High football team will begin its third season of Doug Stento's second stint as head coach with a trip to Orange County to take on Section 9 member Warwick.

Perhaps most notable among returners is RB/DB Kashif Summers, producer of 18 touchdowns and 1,200-plus rushing yards a season ago. He’ll share offensive backfield space with QB Musiah Young and fullback Emon McKenzie, who’ll double at linebacker.

Tayshaun Brooks, last season’s leading receiver, is expected to be conspicuous in the return game as well.

Binghamton's Kashif Summers ran for 185 yards in a 44-22 loss to Elmira in a Section 4 Class AA football semifinal Nov. 4, 2022 at the Thomas J. Hurley Athletic Complex at Elmira High School.

Guard/DL Andy Vo returns for a third season starting on the offense, and twins Jack and Paddy Segrue are a pair of 6-5, 275-pounders.

Class AA is always a battle with Corning and Elmira, then playing Horseheads, Union-Endicott and Vestal, those are always great games,” Stento said. “Avoiding injuries will be a priority.

“We’re entering our third season hoping players under this system have matured.”
