Bills named potential landing spot for RB Dalvin Cook

It might be a longshot but the Buffalo Bills were named a potential suitor for Dalvin Cook.

The former Minnesota Vikings rusher was released by the team and currently is looking for a new home. Reportedly two teams that have had interest in the 27-year-old are the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos.

While the Bills have not been named a team that has interest in Cook, there is a connection–from the player. Reportedly Dalvin Cook is interested in joining the Bills to play alongside his brother, James Cook.

Dalvin Cook has plenty of left in the tank. He rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns last season. But the problem for Buffalo might be the salary cap as the Bills only have approximately $5.5 million in available space per Spotrac.

The Vikings originally released the four-time Pro Bowler because of his salary which was north of $10 million.

Even so, and despite Buffalo adding the likes of Damien Harris and Latavius Murray via free agency this offseason, CBS Sports still sees a fit for Dalvin Cook in western New York. It’s called a move that would put the Bills over the hump.

Here is the CBS Sports’ breakdown on Cook potentially landing in Buffalo:

The Bills have a few options at running back with James Cook, Damien Harris, Nyheim Hines and Latavius Murray on the roster, but Cook would provide an immediate upgrade at this position. Cook has crossed 1,110 yards in each of the past four seasons. The last time the Bills had a 1,110-yard rusher was in 2017 with LeSean McCoy, and their leading rusher from the last four years is now with the Houston Texans.

Cook signing with a legitimate contender and joining forces with his younger brother is something that potentially could happen.
