Bills at Chargers: Key matchups to watch in Week 16

The Buffalo Bills will visit the Los Angeles Chargers in their upcoming Week 16 matchup at SoFi Stadium.

The two teams have been rigorously preparing for the contest throughout the past week. Buffalo (8-6) and Los Angeles (5-9) will think they know their upcoming opponent, inside and out, after all the practicing and studying they have put in.

Because of that, despite all the off-field talking, speculation and discussion, it will still be the games, within the game, that will make all the difference when it comes to the final outcome of this upcoming weekend.

With that, here are three key matchups to watch during Saturday’s Bills-Chargers matchup:

OL Dion Dawkins vs. DE Khalil Mack

Nothing has changed in regard to Mack despite the Chargers having a down year. The former University at Buffalo stud is still good. He has 15 sacks this season.

What is different is Dawkins. He’s having a career year by many accounts. Pro Football Focus grades him a strong 74.4 overall in 2023.

DT Ed Oliver vs. OL Brenden Jaimes

The Chargers are down starting center Will Clapp. Jaimes is set to face off against a talented Bills defensive line with Ed Oliver in the middle of it.

It could be a long day for Jaimes.

CB Rasul Douglas vs. WR Quentin Johnston

The No. 1 receiver in Los Angeles is Keenan Allen. He has not practiced this week and it doesn’t look like he’s going to play due to injury.

Johnston is finishing up his rookie season which has had mixed results. Douglas has played well since finding his footing in Buffalo, post-trade. Douglas should win this matchup, leaving the rest of the Bills defense open to focus on running back Austin Ekeler.
