Big Bend Best: Vote for the Campus USA Credit Union Athlete of the Week for March 18-23
It's voting time, the Campus USA Credit Union Athlete of the Week polls are open once again.
With the FSU Relays coming to town, local athletes put on a show and earned themselves nominations for Athlete of the Week honors alongside other spring sports standouts from last week. We have eight nominees this week, five coming from track and field, but only one can win the Athlete of the Week honors for March 18-23.
Coaches, players, family and friends, be sure to share this poll and vote for who you think should win.
The poll closes Thursday at 12 p.m. and results will be announced Friday at noon.
Coaches and athletic directors, if you think a player(s) should be nominated, please send their name and weekly stats to lrooney@gannett.com by Sunday afternoon.
Micahi Danzy, Florida High track and field
Stats: Ran a winning time of 46.77 in the 400-meter race at the FSU Relays, second best time in the state.
Rance Grace, Lincoln track and field
Stats: Ran a winning time of 54.10 in the 400-meter hurdles at the FSU Relays, third fastest time in the state.
Me'Yauney Peoples, Rickards track and field
Stats: Posted a 6.03-meter jump in the long jump at the FSU Relays, second best time in the state and winning the event.
Journee Belcher, Rickards track and field
Stats: Posted a 1.62-meter jump in the high jump at the FSU Relays, winning the event.
Bryce Davis, Leon track and field
Stats: Threw a 17.88-meter throw in the shot put, finishing second in the event and posting a state-best throw.
William Bulloch, Leon Lacrosse
Stats: In three games, vs. Maclay (10-8 win) 2 goals and 2 assists, vs. West Florida (20-9 win) 5 goals and 3 assists, vs. Lincoln (19-2 win) 6 goals and 1 assist.
Olivia Hernandez, Lincoln softball
Stats: 3-for-5, 4 RBI in 10-8 win over Leon.
Noah Miller, North Florida Christian baseball
Stats: 5-for-6, 3 walks, 2 Doubles, 2 RBIs in two games
