Group bicycle rides will resume Tuesday in Monroe.

The TnT Monroe Bicycle group will depart at 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday this summer from the City of Monroe Laurer-Finzel Riverwalk Parking Lot gazebo, located across the river from St. Mary’s Park.

The tour leader will set a moderate pace of 12 to 14 miles per hour for 15 to 18 miles. Bikers will travel to Bolles Harbor or another lakefront destination.

The public is welcome. All riders must sign a liability waiver. Bike helmets are recommended.

The rides are sponsored by Jacks Bicycle of Monroe.

“This ride is a fun ride of moderate speed, not an all-out training ride or competitive, fast-paced race,” Scott Goucher, owner of Jacks Bicycle, said. “It is meant to bring together members of the community who enjoy cycling, being out of doors and meeting with friends and neighbors while enjoying the sights of the area on two wheels. With the continued expansion of bicycle lanes and trails in Monroe and the increase in bike riding as a way of keeping fit, many local riders felt now is a good time to begin group rides.”

For further information, call Jack’s Bicycle at (734) 242-1400 or Greg and Carol Koesel at (734) 242-1255.

The TnT group has a Facebook group page that lists upcoming events and cycling news.
