Berlin, Canal Winchester make 2023 debuts in central Ohio high school football Super 7
For the first time this season, Super 7 voters have ranked Olentangy Berlin and Canal Winchester among the top high school football teams in central Ohio.
Berlin defeated previously unbeaten Hilliard Davidson 20-14 last week, while Canal Winchester stayed unbeaten with a 49-19 win over Franklin Heights. Berlin enters the poll at No. 5, one spot ahead of Canal Winchester.
It won't get any easier for Berlin this week against undefeated Olentangy, which is ranked fourth.
Davidson's loss, its first, led to it falling out of the Super 7. The other team to drop out was Pickerington Central, which fell 49-14 to Gahanna Lincoln — the Tigers' third consecutive setback.
Gahanna, which has held the No. 1 ranking since the preseason, earned eight of nine first-place votes this week. The other went to Pickerington North.
