Bengals’ Zac Taylor offers interesting take on Joe Burrow’s injury comeback

Back around the time of Joe Burrow’s injury near the start of Cincinnati Bengals training camp, we wrangled up the idea that if nothing else, he was at least in a better spot than last year.

Reason being, last year’s ruptured appendix that hospitalized him and caused notable weight loss put him in a much tougher spot to get back to football.

While giving a Burrow comeback update early this week, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor echoed these sentiments again.

“It’s a different injury,” Taylor said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I hate speaking for other people, but last year it was an unknown how contact would feel. How is it going to feel when I torque? There’s a lot of things with an internal injury that I can’t speak to. I would imagine it’s a whole different mindset you have to have.”

Taylor even added that Burrow “looks probably as good as he’s ever looked at this point,” which would be funny if it wasn’t true considering the quarterback has yet to have a normal summer as a pro.

Given everything onlookers have been able to see and hear so far — plus this general idea that this isn’t anywhere near as bad as last year — things feel right on track for Burrow and the Bengals.
