Manuel led the team to only its second World Series championship in nearly 150 years in 2008 and is the Phillies winningest manager with 780 wins from 2005-13. He suffered a stroke on Sept. 16, 2023, in a Florida hospital while undergoing a medical procedure.
Manuel was beloved by players and fans alike for his affable personality and ability to relate to players. The Phillies never had a losing record under Manuel until he was fired midway through the 2013 season.
During the Phillies 2023 playoff run, Manuel kept tabs on his former club while recovering and going through rehab.
Now, he's back with the team, helping the Phillies prepare for the 2024 season.
