Belmont announces 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame class

Belmont University Athletics announced its 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame class on Friday.

Former student-athletes Jessica Bobbitt Doaks (’10), Jacob Buckman (’08), Mick Hedgepeth (’12), Liz Pollock Allen (’09) and Jason Warpool (’04) were unanimously selected by the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

The Trivett family was also unanimously selected as recipient of the Chaney Memorial Award and the 2007 Belmont men’s cross country team was chosen as Belmont’s Legendary Team.

The Hall of Fame and Chaney Award inductees will be honored at a dinner presented by Truist on Sept. 20 in the Maddox Grand Atrium of the Curb Event Center.

Bobbitt Doaks is one of the most accomplished post players in Belmont women’s basketball history. As a member of the Bruins’ first NCAA Tournament team in 2007, the Trenton, Tennessee, native finished second in Atlantic Sun Conference history in career blocked shots (290). She is one of only five Belmont players with more than 1,100 points and 850 rebounds.

Buckman excelled in both cross country and track and field. He earned All-Atlantic Sun recognition six combined times between the disciplines. Buckman also was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Decade Team (2001-10).

Hedgepeth was crucial to the burgeoning success of Belmont men’s basketball at the turn of the decade. Part of 96 victories, three conference championships, two NCAA Tournament teams and the program’s first NCAA Division I era postseason victory (2009), the Crossville, Alabama, native was a two-time All-Atlantic Sun selection. Hedgepeth is still among program career leaders in points, rebounds, field goal percentage and blocked shots.

Pollock Allen is featured throughout the Belmont women’s track program’s record books. The Clarksville, Tennessee, native graduated from Belmont with 11 All-Atlantic Sun selections, holding the school record in eight track events – 400-, 60- and 55-meter hurdles and five relays. She’s among the only athletes in Belmont history to earn multiple NCAA Championship first-round qualifier berths.

Warpool propelled Belmont baseball into the NCAA Division I era with impressive numbers. The Nashville native was named All-Atlantic Sun in each of Belmont’s first two seasons in the conference after spending two seasons competing as an independent. He finished his Belmont career with a .337 batting average and 83 extra-base hits.

The 2007 Belmont men’s cross country team ranks among the best groups in program history. With multiple impressive outings throughout the season, the Bruins then capped a historic sixth consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference team championship in dominant fashion with seven top 15 finishers. Belmont concluded its season earning its highest finish at the NCAA South Region meet in Gainesville, Florida – fourth place over an assortment of Power 5 mainstays.

The Trivett family has made an impact on Belmont University through partnership and support. Bill Trivett is the owner of ChaseCo, a construction management company involved in various Belmont University construction projects. He runs the company with his son, Chase. Bill and his wife, Ann, are Curb Event Center suite holders and are fans of Belmont men’s and women’s basketball. They have two twin daughters, Shelley and Paige, who live in Knoxville, and several grandchildren.
