Bedford Parks Department softball season gets underway

Fans of all ages came to watch as the Bedford Parks Department's softball season got underway at Murray Forest Park on Wednesday.

According to the Bedford Softball Association Facebook page, Murray Forest Park, 1625 Q St., offers summer, church, fall, and co-ed adult softball leagues and tournaments, as well as field rentals for youth tournaments.

Umpire Gary Hall has been calling games for 46 years.

"I just enjoy being out here," Hall said. "The game's changed a lot. When I started out umping I got $5 a game at Otis Park. There were four games a night, five nights a week then."

On the field, the Live Wire Electrical Services team faced the Boat Club team.
