“We were able to beat Lakeview twice and we beat Harper Creek, so we had a good year in the city,” BCC coach Tony Warren said. “The team was excited about coming over here and getting a chance to get another win against Lakeview.”

Battle Creek Central had control of the game most of the way. The Bearcats had a 27-20 lead at the end of the third quarter as Za'Kariona Caldwell hit a shot at the buzzer.

The Bearcats were still up 32-26 with 2:30 left in regulation as BCC decided to run some time off the clock. Lakeview would get within three points in the final minute, but no closer.

“Lakeview is playing better than they were when we saw them earlier in the year. They are an improved team. They had some momentum late. With no shot clock in high school basketball, we decided to hold the ball a little and finish off the game that way,” Warren said.

A'Mya Hodges led BCC with 17 points with Myliyah Mosley adding 10.

Camille Oxley led Lakeview with nine with Da'Nayah Williams adding seven as the Spartans fall to 6-14.
