Baseball rankings: Plenty of changes in our top high school teams in Bucks County area

There have been plenty of changes in our rankings of the top Bucks County area high school baseball teams since our initial rankings.

Here's how we see the teams this time (through Tuesday, April 9):

1. Neshaminy (5-0)

Junior Steven Martin shut out Council Rock South for five innings in a 5-0 victory in which senior Chase Bonner had a two-run double. Senior Stone Powell's single gave Neshaminy a 3-2 walk-off win over CR North.

2. La Salle (5-1)

The Explorers' biggest win so far was a 4-2 victory over defending Class 6A state champion Father Judge in which junior Jack Pye threw a four-hit complete game and junior Aimon Chandler and senior David Vozzo each had two hits and an RBI. Chandler added two doubles and two RBIs in a 10-3 decision of Archbishop Wood, with senior Jake McNesby and Vozzo contributing two RBIs apiece.

3. North Penn (5-1)

The Knights overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat host Souderton 6-4 with a five-run seventh inning that was keyed by two-run singles from juniors Chase Jones and Mason Coyne, while also downing Central Bucks West 2-0 behind six innings of one-hit ball by junior Trevor Lugara.

4. CR South (5-1)

Golden Hawks junior Billy O'Neill went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and earned the save in an 11-8 victory over Council Rock North. Sophomore Reed Curtier tossed six shutout innings in a 3-0 win against Pennsbury, while junior Drew Nemeth added a two-run single.

5. CB East (4-2)

Junior Chase Fulford hit a pair of three-run home runs and finished with seven RBIs to propel the Patriots past previously unbeaten North Penn 14-3 in five innings. Seniors Reece Moody and Jack Mislan contributed three RBIs apiece. CB East also shut out Central Bucks South 2-0 on a three-hitter from senior Sam Bliss. Junior Nolan Behm had an RBI single among his two hits vs. CB South.

6. Conwell-Egan (3-1)

The Eagles are off to a strong start thanks primarily to their pitching and defense. Senior first baseman Zach Linn, junior pitcher/second baseman Chase Forester and freshman center fielder/pitcher Brady Guzzie have been leading the way for Conwell-Egan.

7. CR North (5-3)

Junior Peyton Shaw allowed three hits and an unearned run over six innings in a 2-1 victory against Pennsbury. Sophomore Kyle Book's suicide squeeze helped in CR North's two-run second inning. Juniors Will Seiler and Shaw combined for a one-hitter in a 4-0 win over Harry S. Truman. Seniors Leor Kedar and Johnny Mulder provided RBI singles.

8. Pennsbury (4-3)

The Falcons handled Harry S. Truman 14-4 behind a two-run homer by senior Jordan Czerniak (3 for 3) and junior Evan Hawkes' two-run double. They also got past Bensalem 3-1 on RBI singles by seniors Tyler Boraski and Eric David (two hits).

9. Faith Christian (4-0)

The Lions have outscored their first four opponents 69-3, including a 17-0 victory over Bicentennial Athletic League foe Calvary Christian. Juniors Grayson Weikel and Reid Miller are excelling on the mound and at the plate for Faith, while senior Kendri Beltre is batting over .700.

(tie) 10. Pennridge (3-1)

The Rams outlasted Souderton 3-2 behind the pitching trio of freshman Connor Murray, junior Connor Smith and sophomore Ryder Olson. Senior Matt Atchley hit a two-run double in a 5-2 win over Central Bucks South in which Olson earned the pitching victory by striking out 10 while allowing one unearned run in four innings. Murray handled the final three frames.

(tie) 10. Quakertown (3-2)

The Panthers topped Hatboro-Horsham 3-2 with senior Cooper Natisin tossing 5⅓ quality innings and contributing a two-run single. Senior Matt Marsten earned the save with 1⅔ hitless innings. Quakertown also defeated Abington 14-2 behind two RBIs apiece from junior Cole Reich, seniors Tanner Clancy, Gunnar Rahn and Natisin. Clancy and Natisin had two hits apiece.
