Baseball: Jacksonville outhits Bullard in 6-3 loss

Apr. 11—RUSK — Baseball teams from Jacksonville and Bullard were in Rusk Wednesday night to play the second of two District 18-4A games that were scheduled.

The game was supposed to have taken place at Summers Norman Field in Jacksonville, but a deluge of rain this week made the natural grass playing surface unfit for competition, hence the move to the artificial surface at Eagle Park.

Bullard scored a 6-3 win over the Indians by jumping out to a 6-1 lead.

Oklahoma University-signer David Wilson picked up his second win of the season over Jacksonville (6-13-1, 1-5). He threw six innings and gave up one run, which was earned off of five hits. Wilson struck out 11 and walked two.

Dylon Malone scored the winning run for Bullard (21-3-2, 4-2) when he came in to score from third base on an Indian miscue in the fifth inning. Malone lashed a base hit to get aboard earlier in the frame.

Leading Bullard at the plate were Wilson (2-4, 2 RBI), Chase Randall (2B, RBI) and Malone, who also drove in a run.

Landon Best (2-3) and Hayden Thompson (2-4) had productive nights at the dish for Jacksonville.

Senior Jayden Boyd, a Dallas College-Eastfield signee, ripped a solo home run and finished up with two RBI while Giancarlo Rico singled and knocked in a run.

Jacksonville had six hits compared to the Panthers' five.

Both teams will play at home at 7 p.m. Friday. Jacksonville will tangle with Palestine 7 p.m. while Madisonville will visit Bullard.
