AZ Compass Prep adding House twins from Desert Mountain to national HS basketball program

Kaden and Kalek House, the sensational backcourt duo that led Scottsdale Desert Mountain to Open semifinal and quarterfinal appearances in their first two high school seasons, are transferring to national high school basketball program AZ Compass Prep in Chandler.

Kaden averaged 24 points and Kalek 22 last season for the Wolves, who lost to Chandler Basha in the quarterfinals of the 32-team Open tournament last season.

As freshmen, they led Desert Mountain to the Open semifinals, before losing to powerhouse Gilbert Perry. Kaden House made The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona team during his freshman and sophomore seasons.

This gives AZ Compass Prep more firepower power to contend for a national championship among the top prep school teams in the country next season.

Pete Kaffey, director and coach of the national prep academy in Chandler, confirmed the 6-foot-3 twins' move.

"Kaden and Kalek House are elite perimeter playmakers that understand the game, score at will, create plays for teammates and embody winning traits day in and day out," Kaffey said. "The House twins were essential additions for us moving into the offseason, as we believe their skillset on both sides of the ball will play a strong role in our future to reach a fifth straight high school national tournament appearance."

These are the two biggest Arizona Interscholastic Association basketball stars to move into the national prep academy scene since guard TyTy Washington joined AZ Compass, and led the Dragons to the GEICO National tournament semifinals in 2021, before losing to Montverde in the final seconds.

Kaden House is ranked 12th overall nationally by ESPN in the 2026 class.

Both players get their offense going by relentless defensive play.

Their older brother Jaelen, who finished up at New Mexico leading the Lobos to the NCAA Tournament last season, was part of four straight AIA 4A state championship teams at Phoenix Shadow Mountain, where his uncle, Mike Bibby, coached him.

They're the sons of former Arizona State and NBA guard Eddie House.

"We dearly appreciate the support our city shows our program, and look forward to opening our doors to watch Phoenix's own, the House twins, this upcoming season at AZ Compass Prep," Kaffey said.
