An Auburn basketball player gets his opportunity to show off for the NBA G-League. A Pearl on the Auburn basketball game gets an award, but it isn’t the one you’re thinking of. Auburn men’s golf kicks off its regional bid and the Tigers’ softball team gets prepared for theirs for the 17th time in their team’s history. Finally, former Auburn president Jay Gogue’s replacement begins his first day as acting president.

Auburn player goes to G-League camp

An Auburn basketball player got a chance to show his stuff to NBA scouts on Monday.

Junior guard [autotag]Allen Flanigan[/autotag], who played the fifth-most minutes on the team for the Tigers last season, traveled to Chicago to begin his participation in the G-League Elite Camp on Monday. The camp is an opportunity for players to to play and train in front of NBA and G-League scouts.

Flanigan played in the second scrimmage on Monday, where he played for 17 minutes and hit three shots for six points, three assists and two rebounds.

Auburn basketball assistant coach named one of top assistants in the country

Auburn assistant coach [autotag]Steven Pearl[/autotag], the son of head coach Bruce Pearl, was named one of the top assistants in the country by Silver Waves Media on Sunday. Silver Waves Media gives awards to assistant coaches at both the high-major level and the mid-major level every year.

Steven is responsible for scouting, defensive strategies and in-game adjustments for the Tigers and won his first game as an interim head coach against North Alabama 70-44 in 2021.

Auburn University welcomes new president

Dr. Christopher B. Roberts officially began his tenure at Auburn University on Monday. Roberts is the 21st president in the school’s history and he will replace former president Jay Gogue.

Roberts will be tasked with renewing current athletic director Allen Greene’s contract if he so chooses. Greene’s contract runs out in 2023, and Greene has expressed his desire to remain at Auburn past the time of his contract.

Auburn softball readying for postseason

The Auburn Tigers softball team is playing postseason softball this weekend.

Auburn will head to South Carolina for the Clemson Regional, where it will first square off against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana will be a tough opponent, as they were crowned the Sun Belt Champions earlier this year. Auburn is 2-1 all-time against Louisiana in softball.

Auburn men's golf shoots eight under at NCAA regional

The Tigers men’s golf team kicked off its postseason with at the NCAA Norman Regional on Monday. Auburn finished 8-under on the day, with sophomore [autotag]J.M. Butler[/autotag] shooting the team’s lowest score of 6-under on the day over eighteen holes.

Auburn is currently tied for third place with Utah and seven strokes ahead of the cut of 1-under. SEC rivals South Carolina are a stroke up in second and Oklahoma leads the tournament at 11-under.
