Auburn basketball transfer KD Johnson announces where he'll spend next season

Auburn basketball transfer KD Johnson knows where he'll be playing next season.

Johnson, who spent the last three seasons with the Tigers, committed to George Mason on Friday. The 6-foot, 190-pound guard started his collegiate career with a season at Georgia, but he has an extra year of eligibility to use due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A fan favorite for his effort and hustle, Johnson averaged 7.1 points and 1.3 assists during the 2023-24 campaign.

"I want to congratulate KD on three years of being in the NCAA Tournament, a regular-season championship (and) a tournament championship," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said March 28. "That's a pretty good three-year run. It really is. ...

"KD Johnson will return to Auburn to receive his degree when the time comes. He’s really close to his degree, and he perhaps could go someplace else and maybe get that degree in this next year. But he really wants to be a unit short. He wants an Auburn degree. So does his family. When he’s done playing wherever he goes and plays, we’re going to make that happen."
