Astros SS Correa (side) out of lineup, but MRI clean

The Houston Astros held Carlos Correa out of the lineup Thursday night against the Texas Rangers, but the shortstop's right-side discomfort was deemed "nothing serious" after an MRI exam.

Correa left Wednesday's win over the Seattle Mariners before the eighth inning after feeling discomfort while swinging at a pitch in the seventh.

"Just happy the first diagnosis is that it's nothing serious, and that hopefully we'll get him back soon," manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Thursday, noting the team will be conservative with the All-Star.

"Nothing major, and we're going to take it day-to-day," Correa added, calling it "really good news."

Marwin Gonzalez, who replaced Correa Wednesday night, started at shortstop and batted sixth against the Rangers.

Correa, 23, is hitting .264 with 10 home runs and 39 RBIs through 60 games this season, his fourth in the majors. He batted .315 last season after finishing in the .270s in 2015 and 2016.
