Arnold ace Bre Clark commits to Southeastern Louisiana University

On Monday morning, Arnold star pitcher Bre Clark went to her social media to announce her commitment to play softball at Southeastern Louisiana University.

"It has been a very long journey and I have wanted this since I was a little girl," Clark said. "We have traveled a lot over the summer and I had to decide whether I wanted to stay at home or go away."

The Lions compete in Division I and finished this past season (47-15) winning the Southland Conference Tournament.

Clark's father is a Louisiana native and said when SLU softball Coach Rick Fremin reached out to her, he pitched a great concept of team culture and identity which Clark wanted to be a part of.

"He (Fremin) wanted to know a lot about me personally versus my softball abilities because he knew that I could already play," Clark said. "He found out from my coaches that I am a "gamer" who thrives in intense competition."

This past season Clark had a career year throwing 294 strikeouts, leading the Marlins to a 23-4 record and was named the Florida Athletic Coaches Associations District 2 Class 4A Player of the Year. Clark has 759 career strikeouts and 1..64 career ERA which she said would not be possible without the outpouring of support from her teammates and coaches.

"I owe it all to my coaches and my parents who have pushed me whenever I did not want to pitch and sometimes made me which was all for the best," Clark said. " My travel ball coaches have helped me by reaching out to college coaches and getting me in the right places I am supposed to be."
