Arkansas baseball vs. SJSU score updates: Hogs host Spartans in midweek action

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas baseball will begin its first midweek series of the season Tuesday night, welcoming an opponent who reached the NCAA Tournament last year.

The No. 1 Razorbacks (27-3) face San Jose State (12-19) tonight looking to extend a 21-game home winning streak. Arkansas hasn't lost inside Baum-Walker Stadium since opening weekend, and the Hogs are off to their best overall start since 1982.

The Razorbacks are coming off a three-game sweep over Ole Miss, while the Spartans went 3-0 this weekend against San Diego State.

Ben Bybee will be the Arkansas starting pitcher Tuesday night, with freshman Colin Fisher getting the ball Wednesday.

Ninth Inning

Eighth Inning

  • No score for either side in the eighth. Arkansas is turning to Cooper Dossett out of the bullpen to try and secure another home win.

Seventh Inning

  • Arkansas scores four runs and now has a commanding 8-2 advantage. Jack Wagner hit a home run, while Peyton Stovall, Wehiwa Aloy and Ben McLaughlin all had an RBI in the inning.

  • San Jose State is on the board thanks to a two-run homer by Matt Spear. That's Spear's second blast of the midweek series.

Fifth Inning

  • It's 4-0 Arkansas as we head to the sixth. Nolan Souza had a two-run double in the fifth, which gave him 9 RBIs in the last three games. The freshman is scorching hot.

Fourth Inning

  • San Jose State gets its first hit and Arkansas gets runners to second and third, but neither team can score, and the Hogs' lead remains 2-0.

Third Inning

  • There's no score in the third, and Arkansas is going to the bullpen. Koty Frank replaces Colin Fisher, who did not give up a hit across three scoreless inning. The Hogs lead 2-0.

Second Inning

  • Arkansas jumps in front 2-0. Peyton Stovall has a sacrifice fly, and Ben McLaughlin recorded an RBI single to give the Hogs an early lead.

First Inning

  • Good afternoon from Baum-Walker Stadium. The basketball team is taking most of the headlines today, but the Razorbacks are back on the diamond for their second game of the week against San Jose State. Neither team scored in the first inning, with Arkansas stranding runners on the corners. Colin Fisher is the starting pitcher for the Hogs today.

After a quick discussion, the freshman walked back to the dugout. That's a tough blow for Arkansas. Stone Hewlett is coming into the game with one out and a runner on first.

Seventh Inning

  • It's another scoreless inning in the seventh, and Arkansas is now turning to lefty freshman Hunter Dietz. This will be the second appearance of Dietz's career.

Sixth Inning

  • No score in the sixth for either side. Arkansas went to the bullpen, and Christian Foutch produced a 1-2-3 inning. Gage Wood is coming out to pitch the top of the seventh for Arkansas.

Fifth Inning

  • It's now 5-1 after a solo homer from Wehiwa Aloy. The shortstop now has nine home runs on the season to lead the team.

Third Inning

  • Arkansas adds a run on a solo home from Ben McLaughlin, and the Hogs lead San Jose State 4-1 as we head to the fourth.

Second Inning

  • Arkansas immediately responds with three runs to grab a 3-1 lead. Peyton Stovall had an RBI single and Nolan Souza stayed red-hot with a two-run double. Souza now has 7 RBIs in his last two games.

  • San Jose State jumps out in front on a mammoth home run from Matt Spear. His 442-foot blast to right field makes it 1-0 Spartans.

First Inning

  • The Razorbacks got a pair of runners on but stranded them at first and second. No score as we head to the second.

  • Ben Bybee faces the minimum and strikes out two batters in a scoreless first inning. Ryder Helfrick caught Sebastian Orduno stealing to end the frame.
