Arizona State coach Willie Bloomquist takes shot at new Ole Miss baseball transfer Luke Hill

It appears Arizona State baseball coach Willie Bloomquist has some strong feelings about the departure of his star shortstop, Luke Hill, who committed to play for Ole Miss on Monday.

According to the Arizona State 247Sports affiliate, Bloomquist told the media that some teammates are glad that Hill has left.

"Matter of fact, a lot of them feel like we're going to be better without him and the attitude he showed at times," Bloomquist said.

With player outgoings now a normality in the post-transfer portal world, Bloomquist's reaction qualifies as an extreme outlier.

Hill, who Bloomquist signed, hit .314 with an .845 OPS as a true freshman last season and was named an All-Pac 12 honorable mention for his efforts.

The Sun Devils have not made an NCAA Tournament regional in either of Bloomquist's two seasons at the helm.

Hill figures to be the heir to Ole Miss shortstop Jacob Gonzalez, who was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox earlier this month.
