Arizona Republic's Top 10 high school baseball playoff players of the week; vote in poll

These players stood out in the Arizona high school baseball playoffs for the week of April 29-May 4. They are the Top 10 Players of the Week. Coaches nominated players. Vote in our poll below for top overall performance.

Top 10 Players of the Week

1. Cam Caminiti, Scottsdale Saguaro, LHP, Sr.

He gave up two hits and struck out 17 and drove in the winning run in a 2-1 4A victory over Tucson Salpointe Catholic that moved the Sabercats into the state semifinals.

2. Jack Ohman, Phoenix Brophy Prep, RHP, Sr.

The Yale commit shut down Chandler Hamilton in a 15-0 run-rule, five-inning 6A tournament win, holding the Huskies to just three hits, striking out five. He also went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.

3. Shane Hooper, Bagdad, LHP, Sr.

In six innings, he gave up three hits, walked two and struck out eight in a 10-0 1A quarterfinal win over Heber Mogollon. He also went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, stole a base and scored a run.

4. Elijah Budiac, Scottsdale Christian, P, Sr.

He pitched six innings in the 2-1, nine-inning, 3A first-round loss to Gilbert Christian, striking out five.

5. Sean King, Gilbert Campo Verde, SS/RHP, Sr.

He went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and pitched 1⅔ innings with strikeout to get the save in a 5-3 5A playoff win over Tucson Catalina Foothills.

6. Gerardo Gonzalez, Peoria Liberty, P, Sr.

In a 5-4 win over Hamilton that knocked the two-time defending 6A champions out of the playoffs, he pitched a complete game, striking out nine. He also drove in the tying run.

7. Coby Neville, Glendale Mountain Ridge, OF, Jr.

He went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs in an 11-2 6A playoff win over Phoenix Desert Vista.

8. Johnny Casale, Brophy Prep, LHP, Sr.

He worked five innings, giving up no runs and striking out four in a 5-0 win over Phoenix Sandra Day O'Connor that clinched a 6A semifinal berth.

9. Connor Iniguez, Flagstaff, RHP, Jr.

In a 3-1 4A tournament win that knocked out Tucson Salpointe Catholic, he pitched the distance, giving up four hits and one earned run and striking out four.

10. Luke Hewes, Flagstaff, C, Sr.

He hit a three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning for all the runs Flagstaff would need in a 3-1 4A playoff win over Salpointe.

Honorable mention

Ryker Waite, Queen Creek, INF, Jr.

He got on base four times and stole three bases in 7-4 win over Mountain Ridge that advanced the Bulldogs into the 6A semifinals.

Easton Almeida, Campo Verde, RHP, Sr.

He gave up no runs in five innings, striking out nine in 5-3 win over Catalina Foothills.

Jack Meissner, Brophy Prep, INF, Sr.

In the 15-0 win over Hamilton, he was 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs.

Willie Cornejo-Farmer, Brophy Prep, 1B, Sr.

He was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs against Hamilton.

Deandre Collier, Winkelman Hayden, LHP, Sr.

In a 9-1 1A quarterfinal win over Desert Heights, he pitched a complete-game win, giving up two hits.

Devin Kriley, Goodyear Estrella Foothills, LHP, Jr.

He was 2-0 on the week, combining to pitch seven innings, striking out 10 and giving up no runs, helping his team stay alive in the 4A double-elimination tournament. He threw 4.1 innings of no-hit ball against Deer Valley, and came in and quieted American Leadership Queen Creek bats Saturday in the Wolves' comeback win.
