The Arizona Republic's Top 10 high school football players in Week 5; vote in our poll

It was a big Week 5 for big performances in Arizona high school football. It included a couple of state records. Here is The Republic's Top 10 players of Week 5. You can vote in our poll below for the top overall performance. (Note: If having difficulty recording vote, click here).

Top 10 Players of the Week

  1. Gage Baker, Surprise Paradise Honors, QB, Sr.

In a blowout win at Show Low, he broke his own 3A single-game record with 10 TD passes, which ties the 11-man state record. He was 20 of 25 for 546 yards with one interception.

2. Adam Mohammed, Glendale Apollo, RB, Sr.

He ran nine times for 179 yards and four TDs in a 48-0 win over West Point. The four TDs gives him 78 in his career, which breaks the all-time 5A state record.

3. Malachi Wilt, Tonopah Valley, QB, So.

In a 47-28 win over Trivium Prep, he was 41 of 59 for 626 yarsd and six TDs.

4. Shamar Berryhill, Tucson Sabino, WR, Jr.

In a win over Safford, he caught 11 passes for 241 yards and four TDs.

5. Dyllon Croff, Tonopah Valley, WR, Sr.

He caught 11 passes for 248 yards and four TDs.

6. Beckham Pellant, Chandler Hamilton, QB, Sr.

In a 70-7 win over Desert Vista, he was 18 of 21 for 350 yards and five TDs in just two quarters of play.

7. Jaxson Jones, Yuma Catholic, DE, Sr.

The Oregon-commit had nine solo tackles, two assists, five tackles for losses, two sacks, two caused fumbles in a win over Thatcher.

8. Lucas George, Queen Creek, RB, Sr.

He ran for 365 yards and three TDs in a 71-61 win over Canyon View.

9. Tait Reynolds, Queen Creek, QB, So.

In the 71-61 win over Canyon View, he ran for 179 yards and five TDs and passed for 130 yards and a score.

10. Christian Clark, Mountain Pointe, RB, Sr.

His 80-yard scoring run late in the second quarter provided the winning points in a 28-21 win over Phoenix Central. He ran for more than 200 yards.

Honorable mentions

Cam Hackworth, Sabino, QB, Sr.

He was 29 of 38 for 453 yards and six TDs.

Harrison Chambers, Brophy, RB, So.

With an injury to the starter, Chambers got the call and ran for 171 yards and two TDs. Pinned at the Brophy 3 in the third quarter, on third-and-long, he burst for 65 yards that led to a score for a 31-12 lead in the win over Chaparral.

Kezion Dia-Johnson, Goodyear Desert Edge, WR, Sr.

He had two remarkable TD catches, one covering 50 yards and another 23 yards, grabbing the ball in the end zone over three defenders to give the Scorpions a 32-20 lead late in the third quarter of the team's 38-32 double-overtime win over defending 5A champion Higley.

Dre’lan Dobbin, Desert Edge, DB, Sr.

He returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown and in the second OT, he broke up a third-down pass in the back of the end zone. He also had eight tackles.

Demond Williams Jr., Basha, QB, Sr.

He was 20 of 21 passing for 260 yards and four TDs in 45-7 win over Mesa Mountain View.

David Simmons, Blue Ridge, WR, Sr.

In a 24-21 win over Morenci that improved the 3A Yellow Jackets to 4-1, he had a 30-yard TD catch and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score.

Diesel Taylor, Perry, QB, Jr.

In just one half of work in rout of Tolleson, he passed for 175 yards and six TDs.

Saul Mendez, Tempe, QB, So.

In a 44-33 win over Odyssey, he passed for 265 yards and five TDs.

Kamron Johnson, Tempe, WR, Sr.

He had four catches for 108 yards and two TDs in win that gives Tempe two-game win streak.

Enoch Watson, American Leadership Queen Creek, QB, Sr.

He was 15 of 27 for 242 yards and two TDs in a 24-10 upset of Sandra Day O’connor.

Isaiah Thomas, Paradise Honors, WR/RB

He caught six passes for 169 yards and two TDs.

Josh Morales, Paradise Honors, WR, Sr.

He caught five passes for 145 yards and five TDs.

Ronald Coty III, Glendale Raymond S Kellis, QB, Jr.

He ran 17 times for 263 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-17 win over Glendale Ironwood.
