Who is Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon?

Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio.

Age: 40

Pro/college experience: In 2021 and 2022, Gannon was the defensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles and coached in Super Bowl 57 at State Farm Stadium. Prior to that position, he was the defensive backs/cornerbacks coach with the Indianapolis Colts (2018-20), the assistant defensive backs/quality control coach with the Minnesota Vikings (2014-17) and a defensive assistant with the Tennessee Titans (2012-13). Gannon spent three seasons (2009-11) as a scout with the St. Louis Rams after beginning his NFL coaching career as a defensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons in 2007. He has also coached at his alma mater, Louisville, where Gannon was a student assistant for three seasons (2003-05) and spent one season as a graduate assistant (2006).

2023: Hired as Cardinals head coach on Feb. 14, 2023. Signed to five-year contract.

Personal: A hip injury in his first collegiate start that required surgery cut Gannon's football career short when he was a Louisville freshman. Gannon attended Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, where he was an All-State defensive back and a standout in basketball and track & field. As a senior in 2001, he helped lead the basketball team to the school's first state championship and starred in the long jump and 110-meter hurdles, helping Saint Ignatius to their first track & field state championship that same year. Gannon was inducted into the Saint Ignatius Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

His high school head coach, Chuck Kyle, wrote a book called 'The Object of the Game,' which Gannon feels can be a guide on how to successfully run a football team.

Gannon and his wife, Gina, have three children — Rocco, Lola and Angelo.
