Arizona Cardinals delete video poking fun at Russell Wilson after nearly 5 million views

The Arizona Cardinals' social media team made waves over the weekend when it posted a tweet poking fun at Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson after Arizona's NFL preseason win over the Broncos on Friday night.

Maybe poking too much fun at Wilson?

After the video amassed almost 5 million page views, the post, which inserted Wilson working out into a recent "He's not real" viral airplane meme, was deleted.

Wilson working out in the video was a shot at the quarterback for a story from last year that reported that Wilson had spent time doing high knees in the aisle of a team plane on a flight to London for a game.

NBC Sports' Mike Florio took his own shot at the Cardinals for the video.

He wrote: "It’s unclear why the Cardinals deleted it. It’s also odd that they would have taken a victory lap after a game that means jack squat. Then again, this year’s Cardinals probably need to celebrate their wins wherever and however they find them."

The Cardinals beat the Broncos in the preseason game 18-17. Wilson went 7-for-13 passing for 93 yards and a touchdown in the game.

Deleted Russell Wilson video lives on

The Cardinals may have deleted the video, but that doesn't mean that it is gone.

Several people saved the video before Arizona deleted it, reposting it to let it live on, including SB Nation's Andy Kwong, who wondered how anyone could "take this video personally and/or seriously?"

Criticism of Arizona Cardinals' Russell Wilson post

One person who did take the video seriously was former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz, who responded to Arizona's original post with this message:

"Congrats on your 4th quarter comeback and 1 point victory with 3rd stringers in preseason game 1. Totally warrants flaming the opposing team’s QB when you were down 10-0 at the half to him. This is pathetic. You know you won’t have many chances this season so fire em off now huh?"

Support of Arizona Cardinals' Russell Wilson post

Others, like Kwong, saw nothing wrong in the post and were disappointed when the Cardinals deleted it.
