Area Roundup: Hesperia girls basketball cruises past Silverado in a nonleague showdown

The Hesperia girls basketball team jumped out to an early lead against Silverado on Tuesday night and never looked back in a 64-47 victory.

The Scorpions held the Hawks to five points in the first quarter and wound up taking a 27-15 lead at the half. Silverado scored 16 points in the third and fourth quarters, but it wasn’t enough to cut into the deficit.

For Hesperia, four players scored in double figures, as Savannah Wynn led the way with 19 points.

Kylee Edgar added 13 points, and Queen Allah and Leanna Quintero scored 11 points.

For Silverado, Stephanie Udeze led all scorers with 20 points, Angelina Sanchez-Guevara added 10 points, and Joana Ayala contributed nine points.

Silverado (6-4) is off until Jan. 4, when it hosts Victor Valley to begin Desert Sky League action. Meanwhile, the Scorpions (7-2) are back in action on Dec. 27 against Palmdale in a tournament game.

Adelanto 80, Sultana 49

At Adelanto, Kenyon Crittenden dropped 28 points and snagged 17 rebounds in the Saints’ 31-point victory over the Sultans on Tuesday.

Jaden Richards tallied 21 points, Darren Atkinson scored 13 points, and Arthur Parker was the fourth Adelanto player in double figures with 10 points.

The Saints (13-3) host Burroughs on Thursday.

PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL

Hesperia Christian 47, Excelsior 4

At Hesperia, Reah Racobs led the Patriots with 14 points and 12 rebounds in a 43-point victory over the Eagles on Tuesday.

Grace Audet, Averie Nebel, and Kylie Page had chipped in with six points.

Hesperia Christian (7-4, 2-0 Cross Valley League) is back home Friday against CIMS.

ACE 33, Victor Valley Christian 19

At Helendale, the Eagles scored their second win in Agape League action with a 14-point victory over the Royals.

Sierra Lamberth led the way for ACE with 17 points, while Sabrina Jacobson and La Shawn Marsh scored six points.

The Eagles (2-3, 2-1 Agape League) travel to Silver Valley on Friday.

PREP GIRLS SOCCER

Silverado 3, University Prep 1

At Victorville, Jasmine Jackson scored two goals, and Monique Alvarez also scored one as the Hawks topped the Jaguars on Tuesday.

Silverado (4-1) rides a three-game winning streak into Thursday's road matchup against Serrano.
