Anthony Davis on hip injury he re-aggravated in Game 4 win vs. Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Lakers have taken a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Memphis Grizzlies after a 117-111 overtime win in Game 4 on Monday, but by no means have things been easy for them.

In particular, it’s been a bit of a struggle for Anthony Davis.

Late in the first half of Game 1, he appeared to suffer an arm injury while apparently saying he couldn’t move his arm, although he turned out to be fine afterward. Twice in Game 4, he appeared to be in pain in the area of his right hip after making contact with multiple Grizzlies players.

He was able to continue to play, but he had his second poor performance in the series, going 4-of-13 from the field and scoring just 12 points.

Afterward, he said that he merely re-aggravated an existing ailment and that he would be fine moving forward (@ 2:04).

“I just wanted to play,” Davis said. “It’s been bothering me for probably like a week-and-a-half. But there was no way I was coming out. Just trying to give what I could to the team. I’ll be fine, though. We do what we’re supposed to do Wednesday, then I get a couple days to let it calm down and get back to normal. But take care of it tonight, tomorrow and get ready for Wednesday’s game.”

Game 5 will be in Memphis on Wednesday night, and the Lakers will have the opportunity to make quick work of the Grizzlies while getting some decent rest before beginning the next round of the playoffs.
