Angels' Bourjos injured again
Angels center fielder Peter Bourjos was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after suffering a non-displaced fracture in his right wrist during the fourth inning of Saturday's 7-2 win over the Houston Astros.
Bourjos, who was hit by a pitch from Houston's Jordan Lyles, is expected to be out two weeks in a season interrupted by injuries.
"There'll be a DL time, and we'll see what the timeframe is," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Early indications are that it might be a shorter stint than we'd imagine because of where the fracture is. We're following the lead of our medical staff every step of the way."
Bourjos had just returned after missing four games because of a bruised left thumb that he hurt a week ago against Pittsburgh.
The unfortunate injuries have short-circuited a productive season for the 26-year-old. Bourjos is hitting .326 in 129 at-bats and has played well defensively.
"No doubt, I think there's a little frustration from Peter because this is the best baseball he's played in his life," Scioscia said.
J.B Shuck will continue to fill in for Bourjos in the lineup and play left field. Mike Trout will move over to center from left. Shuck is hitting .389 with eight RBIs in his last 12 games.
