Andre Iguodala backs Warriors to contend for another championship

Andre Iguodala has won four championships with the Golden State Warriors. The recently-retired forward understands the talent and competitiveness level within the Warriors locker room. As such, Iguodala wouldn’t be surprised to see Steph Curry lead his team to a fifth NBA championship in the upcoming season.

Iguodala’s comments came during a recent appearance on ESPN’s first take. The former Warrior noted how you can never count out a team that boasts a superstar leader like Curry. Iguodala also pointed toward the addition of Chris Paul as another reason why his former team could add another banner to their dynasty’s resume.

“When you got Steph Curry on your team, you always have a chance,” Iguodala said. “You can never count them out. It’s him or LeBron: you can’t count them out until it’s over. And I think CP is going to be an addition to that team. Steve Kerr spoke to it already in terms of the leadership he’s brought to the team. Turnovers have been a problem  for the Warriors historically, and CP is one of those guys that can settle them down.”

Golden State has enjoyed a busy offseason. Mike Dunleavy has acquired multiple new veterans to help improve the balance within the roster, while recent draft picks Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis both appear to be steals.

If the Warriors can remain healthy throughout the season, and Kerr can get everybody pulling in the same direction, there could be a strong push for an NBA Finals appearance once the postseason begins.
